Space Race came to a stop???

I was about to win the Space Race, only one turn to go, then for some reson, I get message Space Race failed.... Why???

My Space Ship is already build, and almost ready to Land. Then I get this message: Space Race failed. I was one turn from winning, by Space Win. I have not won a Civ4 game. I am a pro at Civ2, as I have won many times, Why is it so hard to Win Civ4??

What they are trying to explain to you is that in the latest incarnation of CIV the space race victory has a quirk of sorts. It allows you to launch the space ship without having all the SS Casings constructed. But for each casing less than the maximum number the starship has a chance to blow up on it's own.

They are presuming that you have launched the incomplete starship and are asking you if that is the case.
