What are your tech priorities when going for a space race victory? DO you go for rockerty first then industrialism to reveal aluminum or do you go for Computers to build labs? When do you get robotics, and do you build the space elavator? Lets hear your strategy and the logic behind it.:stupid:

I'm far from pro, but I usually get:

  1. Plastics - power from Three Gorges Damn
  2. Industrialism - Aluminum for Apollo, Tank production
  3. Rocketry - So I can start Apollo
  4. Computers / Robotics - Laboratory & Space Elevator
  5. Genetics - +3:health: to make up for Factories & Labs
  6. Whatever

In terms of getting Apollo done faster, I don't think the order of the first 3 really matters too much. I like getting Industrialism early for the Aluminum and so my cities can get a head start on Tank production before getting side-tracked making spaceship parts.

Early labs are cool and all, but by that time :yuck: is pretty high, so I like getting Labs & Genetics back to back so I don't compound the problem.

If I have :yuck: under control and especially if I can lightbulb Radio (I think it's the GA who helps with that), I'll sometimes go for Computers early to get the +:science:% boost for teching all the other stuff.

But for the most part, that's my list. I'm sure it's wrong, but it is what it is, I guess.

1) Assembly line for factories and COAL PLANTS. Build aqueducts and grocers if you have to, they'll only take like three turns once your production is online.
2) Railroads to power up mines.
3) Rocketry for Apollo.
4) Computers for labs. If I can't trade for Industrialism by now, then self-research it.
5) Sattelites.
6) Robotics for the Space Elevator. Increasingly I think that this is optional. But if I know I'm going for space, I'll try to generate a GE or two to rush it, in which case it's definitely a good deal.
7) Fiber Optics, Fission, Fusion. Put one of the best production cities on the engine.
8) Refridgeration, Genetics. The other best production city on the stasis chamber.
9) Ecology last, 'cuz it's a fast build.

This is the "in a vacuum" order. Trading possibilities can change it.

I haven't played around with the Internet too much, but it seems like it has potential. Anyone else have thoughts on it?

The internet is decent. Usually if you are in the lead, tech wise, you only pick up the early ones that you skipped. I usually build it though:lol:

tried the internet rush on monarch vanilla, great success (=a good deal of techs I didn't have to research).
I still had some research to do, so delaying the apollo program was not a big deal.
I think the difference between apollo first and internet first is the number of potential part building cities.
If you can build each part in a different city, Internet is great. If you need to squeeze a few parts in each cities, better start early = apollo first.
