Me, MAO combined won the game on NOBLE by space race. I didn't even know this can happen. Look at the picture in the middle it says Mao edong won the space and at the top King Ram won the game.

well, if he'd had a permament alliance it would say Mao/King s.t. win space race victory. I also won my (2nd) game in an alliance and by space race and it said so. Sadly I lost my first game after 7 hours straight by 2 rounds for the last space race part (cockpit, I believe). Nevermind.

Alliances are a cool option though. Loved it. I had Egypt surrounded by my territory, so I simply "made it mine" by an alliance in which I was the stronger part, thus pulling all the strings. It's lovely though, if you start to feel you screwed the game up, you can just hang onto someone better in an alliance (which requires a lot of diplomativ finesse) an win the thing from behind. :D

Edit: in this case i belive both finished work on the spaceship simultanously

I actuallly had the same thing.. (in my first game played)

Towards the final 5 turns of the game I was gunning for space race victory.

When 2 turns before the final turn I snathed victory from the Japanese.
I sat back and watched the space video run by, afterwards I look at the botom of the screen "below" my stats.. What do you know there is say's Tokugawa won the space race..

My gues is we actualy finished in the same turn.

It shouldn't be possible to finish in the same turn. The turn based game system should disallow more than one individual victor.
