Space ship end game

I've just started playing CIV 2. I've buit myself a spaceship and landed it on the planet. The only unit I've been given on this new world is one lot of marines. What am I meant to do with them? I can't build any cities.

Also in later turns a red circular object appeared next to one of my cities, which turned out to be a teleport to the planet. I have used this to colonise the place. I'm sure that this isn't how things are meant to go.

Any advice?

Sounds like someone should stop playing Civ2 all night...oh wait nevermind I have that problem too. Spaceship landing ends the game. I'm cofused now...

definetly sounds like the "extended" game in ToT. Haven't really played it but you should be able to teleport some settlers.

DrCat - which version of Civ2, and which scenario?

Others - You get the option to end the game upon killing the last civ or landing, but you can decline and play on...
