sorry i get a little over excited sometimes.

Not for the primary game. I would like Civ to be histoircal. For a later expansion or as an included sceanario, fine.

I think the idea of CIV revolves on the ground, although having an included Star Wars scenario, fully done out, sounds intruguing...

EDIT: Besides, on the note of realism, it doesn't work like in the movies. You can't just go from one place to another, you're under the influence of the Sun's and Earth's gravity, requiring orbital movement in ellipses to stay in space.

Then buy a science fiction game. I'm sure there are several out there that will let you do these things. As for the Civilization series, they're primarily historical simulation games. Space wars would be extremely out of place, except obviously in scenarios.

@ ongwin

Not ok with you this time.

Generally, I think the idea is allright. You can do this in Civ CTP. It should be possible to reach this again in cIV. Just add the Genetic and Diamond Ages that are in CTP. And like some said (and I did), transform the Ages into Options. The more Ages you select, the more turns you can play. Of course, you cannot select all of them, bu one between. They've got to be in succession. However, you can beginn the game in the Middle Ages and have all the techs of the Ancient Age (but not the turns of it). You even can play only the Ancient Age.

To add to this, if you select only one or two Ages, the number of turn can be bigger than the total allocated to it. Just reduce the number of years per turn (30 instead of 50 in the Ancient Age for example).

I'd be happy with a near-future era. Nothing radical, just some high-tech units.

Try Empire Earth - its going cheap at the moment (EE2 is on its way). YOu can start in the space age - or rush to get there before your mates do.

Then you crush them like bugs underfoot - with the power of your mighty Empire!! Just after that you tell them you wre lucky etc...

(I also must increase my medication).

:) :D

I wonder if they'll ever release an Alpha Centauri 2... That would probably futuristic enough for you (by the end of the game, humans have evolved beyond the need for physical bodies!).
