but why is this announced twice?
 
probably because some online-companies have exclusive selling-rights like ebgames and gamestop had in the USA.
 
I'll stick with Amazon then and hope they deliver as promptly as they usually do.

One annoyance. They release it on the 16th which is a Friday, and so won't deliver until Monday, the 19th...Sneaky.:mad:

Ask the American's how promptly Amazon sent out the American Civ3 Preorders. You might want to go with someon else this time.

The first one is a forum-wide annoucement. :)

As for the release date, Gamer UK's head of internet operation told me Civ3 is coming out this week. I emailed them about this release date error. They should fix the error today...

On GamerUK's site it says that they take about five days to deliver the game. Is that for the whole Europe or only UK?

It seems it's for the whole Europe. I asked Gamer UK about that. Here is their reply:

People who ordered up until yesterday will get it tomorrow. It normally only takes only a couple of days to get to people but we say five days because we cannot predict the postal service sometimes :).</font>
 
I've just seen Civ III in my local EB at £34.99, so this Gamer UK offer looks like a very good deal.

I ordered it a couple of days ago and I'm still waiting for it to arrive, though, so I guess it's back to my current game of SMAC for a while...
 
I just checked the site for my order and it said "16/11/01 order shipped via royal mail 1st class recorded delivery". Since they said it would be available on 16th November you can't complain about that (but I do wonder how these fellows are making any money on it!). I guess I should probably get it later today then:)

I wonder if Amazon will be as efficient with my EE order...
 
My copy of Civ III arrived from Gamer UK on Tuesday, so I don't know why an order placed on the 16th should still be processing. Besides, I thought Gamer's site said they automatically cancelled the order themselves if they couldn't despatch it within a week.
 
... But mine arrived from Amazon.co.uk on the 16th.

It 'ruined' my weekend, but my first game (chieftain) was completed on the Sunday at 19:00, roughly 30 hours of gamplay!
