1st) New guy to forum
2nd) Yeah glad to see so many people that love this game as I do
3rd) uh.....

Now to the point, I got the PS version (don't scream at me, Its cause I hate PC gaming in all its forms.) Anyone got any useful tips for speeding up game turns, without slaughtering everyone and without having to play with less than the maximum number of avaliable AI opponents?

Try the One City Challenge: only one city at all times. No reloads except when you get an Advanced Tribe from a hut. No city capturing: you must wipe them out (each unit killed without walls decreases city size by 1, or use spies to "poison water supply"). Download some OCC setups others have posted, or create your own. Here's a site for some classic setups:

And welcome to CFC!

I agree with ElephantU -- the One City Challenge is the fastest way to enjoy Civ -- start to finish with little stress in an evening.

I often work with just five cities -- & the goal is to build all of the wonders. Moderately stress free at Prince level, and yet still somewhat of a challenge if one plays carelessly (as I too often do.)

Well with the PS version, there's bound to be slowdown in the later stages. One is recommended to read a book between turns (not joking).

But I would suggest limiting the number of cities, playing on a standard or small map, and contemplation time. The main slowdown comes from the time it takes to figure out your next move. You may want to zap through your turns at times.

Even so, however, this game is chess in a quagmire. But if nothing else, you can use the CASH cheat (naming cities CASH), research to nukes, buy up all the nukes you want, nuke everybody, and then game over. Amen.
