So my parents were going to go out camping or something over memorial weekend but I didnt wanna go so I was going to just go live that weekend over at my friends house (his parents are also gone) so we had like a couple of parties and stuff on saturday I got drunk and stuff, just rested on sunday, but today was different.

I just woke up and my foot had a big sore, this happened at about 5 am in the morning and the pain was so intense I couldnt go back to sleep. I am pretty sure this is a spider bite. I woke my friend up but he told me to go back to sleep we will deal with it in the morning. I waited in agony for 3 hours until he woke up. I realize I can not put on a sock on my foot and neither a shoe. It has swollen very much.

My friend says that I shouldnt worry about it and to suck it up, he's calling my a sissie and a ***** and ****, but I really feel sick. My head is sore and my foot is numb and swolen, a huge sore is on it. I am telling him to drive me to the hospital (I dont have a licence or a car) or the doctor but he's telling me it will go away by itself. We were planning to go to a Memorial Day party, go to the movies with some friends and stuff, but I obviously cant and he has to leave in a few minutes so he's going to leave me here.

What am I supposed to do? I don't know what I should be more worried about, that my friend is going to ditch a person in need cause he's lazy and wants to go to some party (hospital is miles away), and would abandon me like that, since he is a bad friend - or - the actual medical pain from the spider bite.

Someone help?

Tell him it's very serious that a good friend would take you.

If he doesn't, offer to pay him. In a year, you won't miss the money, but you'll forever miss your foot.

Depends on if it's really that bad and what you feel.
If it gets worse, call 911. Ambulance ride might cost you a few hundred though. But better than having something amputated.
(We’re just assuming the worst case scenario.)

Good luck.

PS. If I were you, I'd really not call your friend a friend if he's being so damn lazy.

With friends like that who needs enemies, man badger him 'til he comes round, if he deserts you anyway, then phone the emergency services and ask advice, sounds to me like something serious but I know nothing, wish the Dr was in the house, Nanocyborgasm? Any advice?

I certainly have no idea. You could google to determine what spiders are native to the region and effects of spider bites.

Seriously, if my foot swole up, I'd see a doctor pronto

I dont wanna be a little ***** and call all this ambulances and ****, maybe my friend is right and it will just go away by itself? I dont wanna look like a moron and do all this crap for this if it really is nothing!

Remember it's always better to err on the side of caution.

Where do you live, what country?

Geez, take a cab.

Phone a friend of the family. I'm sure that friends of your parents will help out - it's people's nature to help out kids of their friends.

Big time ... call a cab and to to the hospital ... I heard lots of stories about just that ... dont mess with that go to the hospital.

And your friend is not your friend if he leaves you in pain !

I don't have any money for a cab in the first place, and I dont know the #s of my friend's family. Ijust came to my friends house with my clothes and a toothbrush pretty much. **** it, I'll just ride it out. I did some rsearch online and I found that it should go away..

I unfortunatley live in the USA. If this was Europe or canada this **** wouldnt have happened. Oh well you can thank george bush for this, ya healthcare is bad idea. /sarcasm

You're not being a sissy for taking care of your body, you would be stupid not to take care of it.

And friends are people that care about you, not just those that happen to hang out with you.

I would see a doctor right away.

If I were you, I'd get to a doctor any way I can. I'm sure there's someone else around who would take you to a hospital? I'd rather be called a wimp and have my foot (or be alive) than the reverse :)

Yeah in this country(England) you aren't worrying about whether it's an issue just your own well being, NHS thing(of course we don't have any lethal spiders either)

In England they can put you through to a Dr who will give you advice? I guess they don't have that where you are? Call the emergency services anyway, can't hurt, ask them if they think it's worthy of a call out?

How can you know that without knowing what caused it?

Seriously, it may well go away but leave you with neural damage.

The Internet isn't exactly the best place to go for researching these sorts of things. I'd seriously go see a doctor!

We have California Poison Control, not sure about other states (Commie #4522, you're from California, right? Maybe you could call them.)

Commie here's my advice:

Grow up. Be your own person, think for yourself, and stop giving a damn what your idiot friend says. He's not the one bite and having a huge swollen foot. And get a new friend.
