Split gatherer causing CTD (easy to reproduce)

If you split your gatherer and try to build something other than a road, something that will consume the gatherer you will get a message: "The gatherer is unable to complete..." and nothing happen, you need simply need a complete squad so nothing strange about that.

If you mix your split squad of gatherer with hole squad of gatherer you will after a while get a CTD when trying to build something that are trying to consume a gatherer. Guess it trying to consume something it can't consume or something like that.

A strange observation: Those times I run in to a goody hut and get a gatherer early on I have a tendency to split them and use them as scouts, don't care if they die at that stage I prioritize scouting more. But while split my gatherer have never been attacked, don't know if this is is pure luck or a bug but I will keep an eye at it in my upcoming games.

You should post a savegame just before this happens. That will make it much easier to debug and will save valuable time to try and reproduce. :)
 
Interesting that grouped they can get around the protection against that crash.

At the moment this is easy enough.

Don't group them.


I'm also not sure when animals stopped attacking powerless units. Urgh... Sure does make them good scouts don't it?

Sorry but at the time I wrote that message I didn't have a saved game but since you asked I deliver.

I set up a new game, huge map with a single AI, settler and normal speed just to get to a pout where I can show the bug fast. To reproduce make sure whole stack of gatherer are selected and hit Build a scavenging camp button and you will get a CTD

Problem is that the AI sometimes are splitting the workers and will then cause random CTD. Simple solution would simply to remove the split option from the workers?

Agree that split option should not have been applied to workers. But that's T-brd's puppy and he does "love" his puppy! :lol::rolleyes:

For some reason are strength stat completely removed from "workers" and "settlers" and therefore will the AI not attack them. If the strength are set to 0 the AI will start to attack them again.
