ok I've figured it out:

indeed you need to modify files in DLC/Maps folder

for me problem was I also kept copies of modified files in the same folder which seems coused the issue- just removed them and voile!

Sorry for digging this old one out. BE and Starships cannot be linked to 2K accounts anymore. So that leaves only the hacking way, which works perfectly fine for BE. Just removed those lines and got the options. But does anyone know a hacking way for Starships? The file system is completely different without any XMLs or LUAs. Does anybody know in which folder Starships savegames are being saved? Haven't found that either.
