Sports League?

Can we just get rid of stat points, they're kind of annoying to deal with. Is there no way to make a formula to just post scores, and who scored the goals?

Ok, you have to give stat points to your attackers, midfield and defence. you are allowed 225 points to spend.

Example.
Team Red
Attack 80
Midfield 70
Defence 75

Al-Hakimah Blitzkreig

Attack-90
Midfield- 70
Defense- 65

Canal Raiders

Attack-95
Midfield -50
Defense - 80

Line-up:

GK: Randy Nettings
DL: Vinnie Jones
DR: Terry Dracula
DC: Jack Hook

MR: Horst Jäger
ML: Rijkhart van den Schlacht

AL: Franklin D. Snookenfelt
AC: Hans Kvassfotengen
AR: Boris Vulkanov

LIBERO 1: John Holmes
LIBERO 2: Bruno Penetrati

If we're going with the soccer league, then I suppose I'll distribute those points accordingly (which will probably make the team lousy, but c'est la vie):

Новое Владивосто́к Патриоты - Novoe Vladivostok Patriots (not going to worry about the order since only the city name or the team name would ever be put on home/away jerseys)

(Copied and pasted the Vladivostok part, wish I could get that accent off there, it doesn't belong over the K, since I can't type Cyrillic...oh well)

Attack: 83
Midfield: 52
Defense: 90

CWFCM

Attack - 70
Midfield - 90
Defense - 65

Line-up:

GK: Christiano Abbiati

DL: Toni Kallio
DR: Phil Neville
DC: Jelle Van Damme
DC: Shang Shuai

DMC: Thomas Gravesen
MR: Mika Väyrynen
ML: Martin Petrov
AMC: Rafael van der Vaart
AMC: Wesley Sneijder

FC: Dong Fangzhuo

Substitutes(7 or 5?):

GK: Javier López Vallejo
DC: Jorge Guagua
DMC: Aki Riihilahti
MR: Hamit Altintop
FC: Jonatan Johansson

A group of indigenous Marijaki have taken an interest in this curious game. It looks easy enough! If it's not too late...

Jumari Putbolan Marijakan (Soccer Team of Marijak, no professionalism implied)
A: 77
M: 62
D: 86

Players to be BS-ed at sometime other than 1AM.

(I'm not a sports guy... This will probably suck. I know a lot more about baseball.)

Karmel Italia (football - a special Italian only soccer team from West Karmel)

(no rules against a city having more than one - Maccabi tel aviv vs Hapoel Tel Aviv is always an awesome game. and the whole concept is stolen from a canadian soccer league consisting of "Toronto Croatia" and "Serbian Eagles" - based out of Toronto)

Attack 84
Midfield 65
Defence 76

LINEUP:

(all real life names used are of dead or retired players/coaches for the italian national team. others are made up.)

FORMATION (used by the REAL Vittorio Pozzo when Italy when the world cup twice): 3-2-3-2-1 OR 5-3-2-1

LW: Giuseppe Meazza CF: Silvio Piola RW: Giovanni Ferrari
LIFW: Luigi Allemandi RIFW: Attilio Demaría
LHB: CHB: Luigi Bertolini RHB: Luis Monti

Timetable:

I am on holiday from the 13-20th, so new teams can sign up until then.

On the 21st (Tuesday) the first set of matches will be played.

Due to me being away a bit though the rest of August, the next matches will be on the 24th. Afterthat I don't quite know, but by Septmember, when i am back at college, the matches will be every weekend.

Sound good to everyone?

excellent :)

if more hockey teams happened to sign up, I COULD run that. Hockey spread to Civilitas after the 1998 Olympics in Nagano.

FOR HOCKEY, if I were to run it, here would be the team setup (note that I would hand over Karmel to another resident in that case.)

SETUP

X POINTS TO BE SPLIT BETWEEN

LW1 C1 RW1
LW2 C2 RW2
LW3 C3 RW3
LW4 C4 RW4
LD1 RD1
LD2 RD2
LD3 RD3
G1

x points to be split between
LWr Cr RWr Dr Dr Gr1 Gr2

I also have a formula ready based on icetime/line that will calculate the average of a team's offense and defense.

at which point, weighted dice (d6-d6 for even overall games) (d8-d6 for slight advantage) (d10-d6 for major advantage) and so on would be used. Afterwards, I would use a RNG to calculate injuries (hence reserves), length, and severity. I would also be willing to summarize games as well as opposed to just a boxscore.

of course, for an added bonus you could pm me modifications to the formula - how much icetime each line gets. NOTE: if you gave a line too much icetime (1st line usually) they would play worse. They are also more succeptable to injuries.

If at least 6 people sign up (you can be in multiple sports) I can add NPCs.

ie. Ithsmus Ice or things like that. REAL PLAYERS CAN BE USED. NHL PLAYERS CURRENTLY IN THE NHL CANNOT. FORMER NHL PLAYERS PLAYING IN EUROPE OR AHL OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT CAN.

I like it. If you want to do it, I'll sign up.

X=1330.
For your starters you get an average of 70 points a player, to be spent.

4 Left Wings 4 Centres 4 Right Wings (must specify lines with points)
6 Defensemen
1 Goalie

x=350
For reserves, an average of 50 per player, to be spent.
1 Left Wing, 1 Centre, 1 Right Wing, 2 Defensemen, 2 Goalies.

SAMPLE OFFENSIVE FORMULA (average in this case = (1*20+2*17+3*15+4*8)/60) 1st line gets 20 minutes a game, 2nd 17, 3rd 15, 4th 8. YOU CAN MODIFY THIS IF YOU WANT, AT YOUR OWN RISK (OR BENEFIT)!
1 2 3 4 AVERAGE
83 80 60 57 72.93333333 (70,70,70,70 would grant 70 obviously)

If people do Basketball or Baseball, I would run it. I have a kick butt program for both

I will reserve the Al-Hakimah Spartans for hockey :D

I will sign up to both the hockey and basketball/baseball league!

If you run the Hockey league, then my team will be:
Portsborough Dreadnoughts.

For Basketball and Baseball, i will think of a name later!

Also, I have a program for twenty20 cricket, should anyone be interested in that as well.

Hard Stick Puckers, my hockey team, are essentially in the same setup as my soccer team.

for baseball/basketball, I personaly would rather do Basketball, but my baseball program is 10x easier to work, and between Nesing, school, and real football (aka Soccer) practice starting soon, I would be able to do Baseball updates 3 days a week, and Basketball once a week

Just a suggestion, shall we set up different threads, just so we don't trip up over other peoples sports?
