I voted other, as I think a Market place is what to build next. If we soon switch to Democracy courthouses will be of little value. This city is about to grow, and is growing rapidly, so will be generating enough trade to benefit from a marketplace by the time it is built, plus the marketplace will help with happiness as this city grows if we are in Demo.
I voted "other" as well, but for a different reason:
My thought is to build (train?) a Diplomat.
No support cost (nice if we change government), relatively cheap and two movement.
* It can be great for defense as it turns attackers into defenders.
* So close to English territory we can use it to steal tech, bribe a city, or establish an embassy
* Decent exploring unit and possible hut-popper if we find some.
Ahhhh! I voted courthouse and there's only 3 corruption. It must've been late because that makes no sense now. I did this in another poll too. We will, however, eventually need a courthouse.
Only thing about a diplomat is that I don't think we need any techs the english have. It would still be good to buy cities even though they are expensive.
A dip would be the sensible option here undoubtedly, and since it is relatively few shields then we can begin to build a marketplace afterwards. I never build courthouses in my games as I always race to Democracy and they are obsolete by then. We would only need 1 dip, and can easily afford to bribe an enemy unit with our cash surplus and then cause havoc in attackers' ranks! :nya2:
