SQ1: Google Earth

At present rate this should not be a problem, but I'm unavail till Tues at earliest so please feel free to skip me if my turn comes due before then

lurker's comment: I think whoever can play first should get the save.

oops, double post.

So- who has the save?

Geez, where is everybody? Can you play, Andro? If so, do so.

Okay, this is ridiculous. This game needs to get played sooner or later. Will someone just take the save and PLAY ALREADY!!!!????  [pissed] [pissed]

Choxorn...No, it really doesn't. The members may be having RL problems that you know nothing about. They may have already been in touch with each other via PM or email and have a plan in mind, or may even have agreed to drop the game.

Your attempts to push them into playing are more likely to be counter-productive. I mean this in the nicest way possible, but you need to stay out of games in which you are not a participant. :)

My point is that waiting is boring... Not just for this but for SQ2 and SQ's third record...

Lurker:

GMH's point is that is none of your business and you are making a lot of post for no god reason. Email the players and get their permission to play or forget it. It is one thing to interject oneself with a salient point or a comment to friends. It is another to just post as some childish reflex to be seen and heard.

So many times you have been admonished to take it easy my players and lurkers, but you insist upon post meaningless things. How old ar eyou anyway. do you have a special issue or is reading comprehension it?

You say it is boring, but it is also boring for us to come to the SG forum and find all the new post are yours and know that none are likely to be informative, amusing or of any value. I routinely skip threads that I see you posted last as the odds are it will be insipient.

Sorry... sometimes I do that... :( :(  I hope this post wasn't unnessecary.

Well tomorrow will be a month since tupac played the last set so even though I played the turn before that its about time this got moving

so ...

"got it" :D

Plans
Take over Apples isle
Expand borders
See if there is a way to land units in Linux territory with rop, get mpp then get IBM to attack first, but have units ready to block Linux from directly accessing IBM and hence its uranium :nuke:

W00t! The game finally gets going again.

Progress report
1460AD
Apple is gone, war gave another 2 leaders -> SETI and Pentagon rushed
Linux beat us by one turn to computers, we are now researching nuclear
The land grab is on for ex-Apple territory, settler rushing in progress
Preparing for next war

I may not be able to complete this set till after the weekend - we'll see

PS
Go Socceroos :D

Holy crap, really has it been a month since my last turnset?

Well anyway, unless Sima tells me otherwise I'll take the save after you.

and yes

GO THE SOCCEROOS!

We're in the last 16! We're in the last 16! We're in the last 16!

Long time since played this so spend a while refamiliarising

Our stated goal is domination
Start turnset require 441 tiles, only 39% pop a worry though

Obviously need to aquire Apple isle, will require some careful diplomacy to get territory on the remaining continent. Need to get either Linux on our side or all dogpile on Linux, I'll worry about Apple first.

Remind self of variant rules
No neg gpt ever
Dont be evil

Current diplomacy
At war with Apple - have level 1 WW. Apple also at war with IBM, Sun & Linux
IBM - 4 turns remain on peace deal (always reneg is off), 10 turns on MA v Apple (but wont last that long), 16 turns remain on receiving ivory + 16gpt (breaking this would only hurt us so would not be evil). Therefore could dow as soon after remove Apple as ready. IBM have mpp with both Sun and Linux which significantly complicates things

Linux - 5 turns to run in coals + furs for 19gpt deal. At peace, no ongoing treaty.
Sun - 4 turns to run giving them aluminium, coal, iron + 3 lux, getting 1gpt + 1 lux. Receiving 93gpt for 5 turns. At peace no ongoing treaty.

Currently Picassa rioting thanks to WW + propagada campaign (? from Linux) -> have to hire a clown and taxman (note that a collosseum has been rushed)
Successfully plant spies in Linux and Sun
Rush a few settlers, sell libs in corrupt towns that have already expanded, no need to rush territory borders as pop is going to delay us

IT
Apple cruise misslies and arty bombard
CNN factory -> rax
Orkut factory -> rax
Picasa collosseum (dont think I've built one of these in a long time)
Lib in Pack, Adwords, Sketchup, New GMail
Build 1 b'ship, 4 MA, 1 bomber
Build 2 settlers

1455AD
@ Infinite Loop
lose 3 MA defeating 4 inf -> capture (4-3)
@ Cupertino
lose 7 MA deating 6inf + guerilla -> capture (11-10)
selling factories -> shields for settler
Linux have beaten us to computers by 1 turn, turn science down to 0% and hire lone scientist for computers in 1
Get combat settler ready for arties to access iTunes next turn. Also stack of arties outside Quadra with all eTanks. MA stacks ready for Lisa and MacOS X to hopefully eliminate Apple next turn

IT
Computers comes in -> Nuclear Power
Menlo Park court
Linux building SETI

1460AD
Settler New Picasa as combat settler
@iTunes
Arty leaves 2 redlined and 1 2hp inf, first eMA -> MGL -> rush SETI in Menlo Park
SETI_here_we_come.JPG

Capture with no losses (14-10)
@ MacOS X
lose 1 MA and kill 4 Inf -> capture (18-11)
@ Quadra
Arty and destroyers bombard to 2hp inf
eTanks go 4-2 v inf and 1-0 v guerilla -> capture (23-13)
@ Lisa
MA go 8-0 v 7 inf(2 conscript) and guerilla netting another leader -> rush pentagon -> capture (31-13) and Macs are no more
No_more_Glorious_Macs.JPG

Settler New Pack to grab an ex-Apple oil, New Page Creator grabs the other and New Web Accellorator grabs uranium. Also settle New Writely.

Now have 327 tiles to dom limit and 46.7% pop
Upgrade 38 inf -> MI
Merge all native workers in cities, we have plenty of slaves now

IT
The navies return home
Redmond duct
CNN rax
Menlo Park completes SETI -> Lab
New Video lib -> duct
New Print Lib -> duct
New Picasa completes Pentagon
Orkut rax
Build 4 settlers, 4MA, 3 Transports, 1 jet, 1 bomber
Build 3 libs for culture expansion

1465AD
Settler New Sketchup, New AdSense, New AdWords, New PageRank, New Analytics, Run out of Names :p
Start setting up to transport war machine into IBM territory and MIs into Linux teritory for wall to split Linux forces

IT
Print & Desktop rax
OpenLook & New Googleplex market -> court
Build 6MA, 1 transport and 3 settlers

1470AD
Settle IBM Attck as launching site for the invasion
Note IBM's mpps have expired
Rush a bunch of settlers

IT
Silks deal with Sun expires will renew for oil, coal, iron, 5lux + 1gpt - I do it
Menlo Park Lab
Build 12 settlers, 4MA and a lib
Linux builds SS part

1475AD
Settle 2 towns in former Yahoo continent and 3 in former Apple

IT
Renew trade fur for gpt with Linux
Build 2 settlers and 4MA
IBM dow  - obviously couldnt wait till I did it
IBM_dow_first.JPG

@ Quadra Deep Blues (their panza equiv UU) go 1-1 v defending MAs, bombers bomb resource tiles

1480AD
Use wines to get rop + trade embargo v IBM with Linux (dont want MPP until can cut them off)
Delay attacking IBM in their territory as they have renewed mpp with Sun
Sink a destroyer and transport in our waters (3-1)
Large arty stack redlines many IBM units, kill battleship, Deep Blue, inf, rifle and cav. (8-1)

IT
Lots of bombardment, IBM land 8 cavs
Build 1 settler and 10MA
New Googleplex court
A uranium is exhausted

1485AD
The new uranium is in Sun territory, still none for Linux :)
Unload defensive force on Linux territory
Lose a destroyer to redlined battleship, next succeeds (9-2)
8 redlined cavs gives 8 leader oportunities but nil this time (17-2)

IT
Shoot down a bomber, lose 2 destroyers (18-4)
Build 6MA, 1 settler
New Scholar duct -> harbour
Decline elections
WH ends

1490AD
Kill redlined battleship and transport (20-4)
Blockade in place -> mpp with Sun and Linux (req a lux)
Linux_southern_2_cities_cut_off.JPG

IT
Sun
IBM_in_trouble.JPG
and Linux
IBM_in_bigger_trouble.JPG
dow IBM

We shoot down a bomber (21-4)
IBM land 2 cav
Build 6MA and a lib

1495AD
Req 98 tiles and have 50.7% pop
Kill 2 destroyer,1 transport, 2 cavs (26-4)
@iBook, kill 2 rifles and capture - 3 planes and 3 ships self destroyed (34-4)
We now control ex-Apple continent
Land force in IBM territory - 6 transports full
IBM_landing.JPG

Lose 2 bombers pillaging (34-6)

IT
Watch the AI on AI action
5 MA builds complete
1st pollution hits for a while

1500AD
Est New Beach-head on a hill
I again find I cant build airfields in vanilla
Knock off a redlined battleship (35-6)
@OS/2 arty bomb allows kill 2inf, 2 rifle and cav with loss 1MA (40-7) -> capture (hold planned for 1 turn get a combat settler - rushed with factory and to speed access)

62 tiles to dom limit, but only at 53.6% pop - this should change as IBM destroyed, but I have been trying to build our pop up as much as poss.

2 attack forces ready - a force by Punch Card with a few arty 2 tiles away to bombard and main force in OS/2 ready to go via combat settler (currently in enemy territory) and then able to take DB2 and ThinkPad next turn. OS/2 has governors on to prevent rioting after resistors quelled (doesnt work 100% of time), I suggest abandon next turn after builds settler, though keeping helps our pop sooner if we destroy IBM in next 5 turns which I think is doable (obviously not leaving large force inside after this turn).

In the north IBM left a large stack outside the southern Linux city. This has been largely destroyed but at cost of about 20 Linux units. 4 Linux MI are within striking distance of AIX - I dont think they will be able to take next turn, we have 13 MI and 2 MA in Squeeze Point which could attack next turn if IBM are weakened. The wall prevents Linux and Sun reinforcements other than by sea (or air - does AI make much use of airports?)

I think this should complete in next turn set - have fun

The Save
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads12/SQ01,_1500_AD.SAV

The IBM War
Current IBM (in commie) have military 28 rifles, 18 inf, 11 cav of which 2 rifle, 2 inf and 5 cav remain in injured stack outside southern Linux city. This leaves 48 units in its remaining 10 cities. (also have 11 jets, 2 bombers and sundry ships)
The wall could be brought forward to cut Mandriva off from IBM.
If we take AIX, may want to move wall south so Linux and Sun have to attack amphibiously.

Eek - just checking SS progress and find Linux have 8/10 built - I think they lack just Satelites and laser so could finish in about 8-10 turns
This_is_gonna_be_close.JPG

Triple post - sorry
I have calculated req land and pop to get domination
For land we need 62 tile with IBM holding over 200, so should be no problems there. For pop we have 712 citizens which is 53.6% making world pop 1328. To get 66% we req 876. Of course reducing IBM will reduce world pop (they currently have 168 citizens) 66% of 1328-168 = 766, so another 60 pop whilst eliminating IBM should do it. Options include holding IBM cities and recapture when flip so keep a high pop, or raze first 5 and perhaps hold last 5 like I did with Apple, then add slaves to any cities that can support them to reach dom.
It looks to be a race to see if we can eliminate IBM before Linux builds SS.
Unfortunately I took my eye off the tech progress (I did note they aquired / researched the optional tech advanced flight as well as computers and nuclear during my turnset, presumably they have superconductor as well.

Tupac, are you taking it?

edit
I think the game can be won next turn :D
Average of 5 units per city
Blue force from Squeeze Point consists of 3MA + 12MI -> AIX
Red force 13MA (after 4 arty bombard) -> Punch Card and can then reach Eclipse if keep Punch Card
Pink force (main force) consists of 6MA sitting on the combat settler, can be supplemented after settles with army in OS/2 (29MA) and Beach-head (7MA)
can strike at both ThinkPad and DB2 from combat settler, then from DB2 can strike Power PC and Cell processor. From there to Web Shere which accesses both Floppydisc and Intellistation. To reinforce we have a MA army and 7 MAs in IBM attack with 3 transports NW to pick them up and meet the transports outside Beach-head (can fill those transports with more MA or armies). I think we have sufficient numbers to take out 50 units.
The_End.JPG

I'm picking it up now. I'm goign away tomorrow morning (early!) so I'll try and win it tonight.

Pre-turn:

Can I just say what a pleasure it is playing after Andronicus? Everything is always in top shape, it was in Tupac03 as well. Andronicus you make my life a hell of a lot easier! Thank you!

Decide that this game won't be won at home, so I start planning for next turn. Decide not to move troops out of OS/2 this turn and so hit enter.

IBT - watch as 6 IBM cavs suicide at OS/2 (6-0) Nuclear Power comes in, set to Space flight but as minimum time at surplus is 12 turns i decide to just switch off research.

Turn 1 - A bunch of stuff finishes. Mostly irrelevant. 10 resistors quelled at OS/2. I plan to hold as many IBM cities as possible as I look to get our pop up. Found push ladz and ready myself for our assaults.
Lose an elite MA at Punch card to kill 3 rifles, an infantry and 3 cavs with their size-15-enhanced-defence. (13-1) But we take and hold the city (mostly to give us rail access to the mountains so we can reinforce in that direction this turn).

picture119mq.jpg

A big ol' stack of arty and a few bombers plow the road at Think Pad and our MA's and tank army roll in.
We suffer no losses taking out the 7 defenders and we hold this city as well (20-1)

picture123jj.jpg

The next step is to have troops from Push Ladz to advance to DB2. The few arty who can still fire this turn do their best but get an F for achievment in plowing the road. Our MA arrive and the battle is on! One MA bites the dust as we deal swift hurtiness to the 6 IBM defenders and the city falls. (26-2)

picture146uw.jpg

The next step is to push on towards Eclipse from punch card (I love movement 3 units!). We arrive without arty or air support and begin the final battle for the east coast! Another 2 MA die as we bump off 5 more defenders to take the city (31-4).

picture152ts.jpg

I am confident that we can have this entire war over in even less than Andronicus' predicted 5 turns.
My next step is to risk an attack with our 3 MA at Squeeze point on AIX. Its' risque but I believe we can do it.
I in fact opt to sacrifice a mech inf on the first attack on the city. Why? Because with just 3 MA we can't afford to lose hit points to artillery fire. Sure enough there is an arty in there and our mech even manages to knock a hp off the infantry defending. Our MA then knocks off an infantry but to my suprise there is more than 1 arty in there and so its now yellowlined, he probably won't play much part in the assault now. another arty but our next MA wins again although is redlined and another vet infantry shows up. I now decide to do what I should have done earlier and investigate the city.
Ah. We might leave that one till next turn ay. (33-5)

Back to the south and our forces can move from DB2 to attack at Cell Processor and PowerPC. Four MA's are all it takes to capture PowerPC without loss (37-5).

picture166sh.jpg

Cell Processor is larger and we may suffer losses there. But ONWARDS!
Sure enough 2 MA's are burned at Cell Processor but all 5 defenders fall and the city is ours! (42-7)

picture173of.jpg

Now by owning Think Pad we can attack to Web Sphere which, if we hold it, allows us access to attack (this turn) at Intellistation and Floppy disk. I predict IBM gone by next turn. 2 MA's burn at Web Sphere but 6 defenders bite the dust (48-9), and the city is ours.

picture181yt.jpg

Numbers are starting to run a little thin now but I'm confident we can have Floppy Disk and intellistation this turn, then AIX next turn and then IBM will be destroyed. Andronicus, the set up for this turn by you was nothing short of amazing. Absolutley top class!
Two wins for one MA and intellistation falls (50-9)

picture206qh.jpg

I realise that the costs of all the useless improvements we've inherited has cut our gpt by nearly 50 so I go on a selling frenzy, and for possibly the first time in any game iv played, I get shields for selling stuff. By selling things like factories just about every captured city will ahve a library next turn.
In the attack on Floppy disk we lose the first MA but four consecutive victories and we pop a leader. I'm feeling random so...

picture215nz.jpg

One victory later and the city is ours (55-10)

picture222dw.jpg

I'm only two off the picture limit so its lucky that I can't attack any more this turn I spose.
Can I just reitterite that IBM lost their entire empire (minus AIX) in ONE TURN if that doesn't show just how strong we are then I don't know what does. Our pop also jumped by 11 million this turn.

Position troops to finish this next turn. Mapstat shows we are over the tile limit. I wake all possible workers. I am ending this in the interturn if I can. With a pop of 54 million I think it will.

IBT - stuff happens. Meh

Turn 2 - we get we love the CEO day across the empire (thanks to our acquisition of ivory) but no victory. Hmmmm. Found 'Keep Going Ladz!' and then attack AIX. In the most vicious fight of the turnset so far we lose 5 MA's in killing 11 defenders. (66-15).

picture232qe.jpg

picture245tf.jpg

I'm not sure what to do sorry, I could push on but... I have a feeling about this so I hit end turn.
Cycle through all the dodgy riots and pollution and so forth and....

well you'll have to wait to find out!

I'm tired, ill and in a rush and as they say a picture speaks a thousand words.

If someone wants to do a post mortem then go right ahead, the save is here, just hit enter and wait for all the builds and riots and stuff to go through.
Thanks for the game everyone was a lot of fun, disjointed as it ended up being.
