From where I sit Sriracha sauce seems to be well on it's way to becoming the next ketchup. I am wondering how many people have it in their refridgerator and also how many outside of East Asia and North America have heard of it. It is a Thai chili garlic sauce that makes almost anything taste better: chicken wings, turkey sandwitches, eggs, steak, pizza, etc.. And did I mention eggs? I can't even imagine eating eggs without the stuff these days.

I am wondering how much this wonderful example of Thai cultural imperialism has penetrated the rest of the world.

Huy Fong seems to have a monopoly on it in the US, soon they will be as rich and well connected as the Heintzs:

It has become known coloqially as "Rooster Sauce".

Never heard of it, but we probably have a different name for it in M'sia/S'pore...

Garlic chilli...

It is a new one on me, however if I see it I would definitely try it.

I'm aware of it, but haven't tasted it or for that matter have any. But I see it all the time.

All I can say is that if you like spicy food put it on your eggs, you will never look back.

Seems I have a deja-vu!

;)

I never tried it, but I will be sure to try it next month when I will be on the other side of the big pond. Haben't seen it here yet :(

I avoid eggs, as a general rule. No one but me seems to make them right. Even then, mostly I don't eat the eggs I cook. Usually is a fried egg sammich for the missus. Now, I must admit, I do a killer fried egg sammich.

But I use tabasco et al enough to check it out the next time I have a chance too.

Love that stuff, Drewcifer! We always see it at the Chinese restaurants, and lately in the grocery stores too. Egg rolls are definitely better with the sauce. We haven't bought any for the home yet, but now that you point out how good it goes with pizza, eggs, steak, etc we'll definitely give it a try. :D

Holy crap, I can't believe someone else in the US has this stuff! My mom always has it with pizza, pasta, eggs, or any other bland American food. ;) I usually just have it when the thing I'm having needs a kick, like plain Rotisserie Chicken(tasteless IMO). Otherwise it is too spicy for me to eat all the time. And I'm Indian!

But I gotta say, it isn't the next ketchup here. Maybe in Minnesota people have heard of it, but I don't think anyone knows about it here. But then again I've never asked.

Garlic chili eh? Sounds good. :goodjob: Gotta try to look for it. Or make some myself. :mischief:

I generally try to stay away from strange red sauces with labels written in some east Asian language and a rooster on the front, I don't want to take the chance.
