Akin to the cooking tonight thread, I have 12 days of solo eating coming up in which I am going to cook a bunch of recipes I've never tried before. My family is going to my inlaws lake house but I have to work so I'm staying home for a couple weeks minus the weekends, anyway it works out to 12 dinners. Since I'm working I'm not planning any recipes for lunches. Two of the dinners are on weekends, rest are week nights so they can't be all day recipes like slow roasted prime rib that takes 3-4 hours. Slow cooker is ok cus it can be unattended. I'm really going for 7-8 must try recipes since I'm sure to have leftovers I won't finish solely at lunches, and dunno if I want to spend hours on meals every day. So here's what I have planned, and then throw me your suggestions! In no particular order, numbering just to keep track:

1. Grilled ribeye, grilled Caesar salad, side of baked potato salad. This is an easy go to for me I've made a lot, I marinade in soy, olive oil and montreal steak seasoning, Caesar salad is just grilled romaine, anchovies and store bought dressing, baked potato salad is easy- baked potatoes chilled, mayo, sour cream, cheddar cheese, bacon bits, vinegar, salt n pepper, green onion.

2. Thai basil chicken, new recipe found here http://allrecipes.com/recipe/257938/spicy-thai-basil-chicken-pad-krapow-gai/

3. Beef on weck, making the rolls and the beef! New to me http://allrecipes.com/recipe/240135/beef-on-weck-part-2-roast-beef/

4. Some sort of bolognese sauce with fresh parpadelle pasta from scratch. There's tons of bolognese recipes online. The hardest part is whether to go for a traditional which has milk and no garlic/herbs, or to go with a more western one which has garlic and thyme and stuff. This is an all dayer, takes 4-6 hours of simmering.

5. Some sort of alfredo. Maybe not alfredo for sure but something creamy. Maybe a white wine, butter and cream sauce. Could use some suggestions here. And idk if I want to add stuff like asparagus, peas, broccoli or a protein like chicken or shrimp. I'm thinking seared chicken on the stove and sauce.

6. Freshly made pita bread, falaffel and sauces, maybe baba ganoosh, probably Lebanese garlic sauce too. I found a few recipes online, not sold on anything yet. I might add some tabooli but I'm not the biggest fan.

7. Chef johns grilled herb shrimp http://allrecipes.com/recipe/244245/chef-johns-grilled-garlic-and-herb-shrimp/ with some slow cooker risotto. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/228033/slow-cooker-risotto/
Regular risotto seems too time consuming. I have no idea if it'll turn out, seems like a weird concept.

8. Korean beef short rib bbq http://allrecipes.com/recipe/255591/bulgogi-beef-korean-style-barbecue/

Others if I have time, grilled chicken drummies, chicken wings, biscuits and gravy

Care to be more specific in what you sort of assistance you are asking for?

suggestions. You love duck right? How difficult is it to make?

I could use some sauce suggestions too, I'm not sold on one alfredo or bolognese sauce.

Or quite simply, what's your favorite thing to make I have to try?

Make a good udon dish one day for something different. You can use any meat you want (or no meat). It's super tasty, pretty easy to make single portion, and if you toss in peanuts and a soft boiled egg you can get plenty of protein. And pretty much any veggies work. Bok choy, celery, carrots, onion, broccoli, the list goes on and on.

I would suggest that you boil a great deal or rice or pasta. Store in the fridge and rewarm in the microwave as needed. Or you can put it in a strainer and pour boiling water through it.

The fastest of fast food is grilling a steak. The easiest bachelor meal is beans and rice with a side of fruit. Slow cooker meat is easy but requires a timer. Store bought rotisserie chicken good for a couple of meals. Save the skin and bones to make broth. Don't be afraid to do breakfast for the evening meal.

Instant Ramen ?
Japan curry ? Great way to make several meals in one go if you dont have time, Honestly making it fresh each time is ideal but you can make a large pot worth and eat it over a few meals
The trick is to adjust the curry slightly each time. So first time just have it plain, next time add cheese, last time add some kimchi or pickles vegtables

Making food is like so last century, like OMG. Try JimmyJoy or Ambronite or Soylent (Murican product). :mischief:

You could try the 1 protein 1 side 3 veggies 1 sauce method.

Meaning that you fry up a bunch of different proteins, then prepare 6-8 types of veggies, then make 5 different sauces. Then for each day of the week pick 1 random protein, 1 random side, 3 random veggies, and 1-2 random sauces and throw it all in a box. Since it's all random you can do it really quickly, and every once in a while you even end up with an actual existing dish
