As far as i know the mod will most likely consist of several scenarios one of which is the dominion war. I have played on the Civ 2 dominion war scenario and it as an excellent game. Cant wait until teh civ3 version is finished, should be very good:D

You have a very intersting premise, hopefully you get it finished soon, I have not had the time to read through all of the pages on this forum but I noticed you were discussing a way to use wormholes. I don't know if you figured something out or not, but I thought I might help by suggesting that you just have a map with 2d wrapping 'on', but have an inpassable terrain blocking the edges apart from a few places and that can be your 'wormhole' as it will let units get to the other side of the galaxy.

Yeah, that idea came up, but 1. it would build a blockade trough the entire galaxy, dividing it into two parts, and 2. Railroads don't work on ships, so you would still need nromal traveltime for that distance.
I still favorise using just a bonus recource "wormhole" with a high trade bonus
 
wouldn't it be a bit limited if you make the starships like civ3 ships? isn't it easier to make them land units?
 
using Vadus's space terrain, spaceships have to be sea or air units. And this way you can't capture colonies with ships, you will need ground troops and transport ships. thats much more realistic

I am really enthusiastic about this Star Trek mod and the possibility of a Dominion War Scenario. I think we should not simply throw the Dominion War into a pile with the rest of the Star Trek scenarios but make it a whole project on to itself because of the sheer epic nature of the story.
I was wondering if anyone was doing any Star Trek leaderheads as of yet? If ever get Poser I want to show you my artistic visions for such leaderheads.

As for now these are some random ideas I'd like to share with the group. As for civilization attributes in a Star Trek Mod, I feel the names of some should be changed just to add flavor to the mod, my idea is:
"agricultural" - >"peaceful"
"seafaring" -> "ambitious"
"scientific" -> "isolationist"
"religious" -> "spiritual"
the rest stay the same, and hence:

The Federation is Peaceful, Expansionist
The Klingons are Militaristic, Expansionist
The Romulans are Militaristic, Isolationist
The Cardassians are Militaristic, Ambitious
The Dominion are Militaristic, Spiritual, Expansionist

I think this naming scheme for civ attributes in a Star Trek Mod would be really appropriate. tell me what you think.
 
I don't think scientific and religious need to be renamed, UfoP and Romulans are definately scientific, and Bajorans (and maybe Klingons) are religious.
The attributes are used to determine which buildings cost less for which civ, so peaceful would be a bit weird, what could be a "peaceful" building? However good idea, have to check if you can change the names in labels.txt...

Oh, and no, we got no leaderhead creator...unfortunately :(
 
Anyone know when the forums come back?

Im not sure about government names for teh cardassian or dominion, but i think they should both start with a type of facism, with cardassians moving to a civilian governemnt, and the dominion staying with teh same one? since theyre always led by the founders and vorta
 
it seems the provider stopped that service (check the main page www.xkhosting.com)
And CivFreak didn't posted some time now...hope he's not inactive...

Anyway... I'll try to rectify the problem ASAP... I think that since Wavenom will be back very soon we'll go back there...

Really sorry about all the problems, but since we're going to need a lot of space for all the uploads we'll need something like wavenom, they were pretty good...

Sorry again about all the problems with the hosting...

I'm not sure when I'm gonna be able to get the forum back... :( XKHosting is down (I that somewhere at Wavenom)... and is getting a new server so we may have lost everything and we may have not... Very bad news. I'll look around and see if I can find something elsewhere... maybe Wavenom ;)

I'll get back here with a reply as soon as I find somewhere.

With the morpheus started work on the sovereign and negh'var, could we not start the work for a dominion scenario, all we would need in terms of units is a cardassian and dominion ship of some sorts. so then weve got a playable scenario to test with?

I found this mod in this day. I Love Start Trek, and Civ. Now I'm Reading this 14 pages..

About wormhole: there is a cracked CivEdit, whit this you can make teleport pods, but I Newer Tried it.

I saw the homepages but cant dowload the three Docs about the mod. Can u send me (habee_small@freemail.hu).

I want help for you if it possible(only problem i don't have much time because school, oh and have a bad English :-( ).
