i just got this game for christmas and was wondering if anyone else has it. i havent played that much....to much Tony Hawk's Underground and Sims bustin out but sofar it seems grand, and im well on my way to become a dark jedi.......god i sound like a dork:(

cheers

It's a great game! Good luck on becoming a dark jedi, it's fun being one! I love the game and hope you do too.

i also suggest star wars jedi knight: jedi acadamy. possibly even better than kotor, with live action and slow motion death scenes when you saber other jedi

Bought KOTOR and registered on bioware kotor forum. There were mad people who finished it 13 times on xbox and twice on PC!!
Actually I can only say one thing. Once you started playing it, be ready to say farewell to your social life... Alas, during 2 weeks it was a nightmare for me, going to bed at 5am every night. Never found enough courage to quite the game once I started it. Anyway I played light side. And finished it in 62 hours with a lvl 8 scoundrel/12 jedi consular, female character. Now I'll start another one, but still on light side. I just can't be evil, even though I know it's a game. I can't explain that but it's just that I can't feel play a bad guy. And though I tell myself it's just a game but I don't get why I can never act bad. I must not be normal ...

Now, no spoiler but I just wanted to say that the story is pretty amazing and the final "revelation" is uhm.. unexpected. Totally. And though I had a lot of subtle hints and tips during the conversation with the others (those hints that will be recalled in the cutscene named "Revelation") but I never guessed nor suspected that could be "that". And before you ask, I just say no, I won't spoil the game, you have to figure out "that revelation" by yourself. It's probably the most surprising moment of the game, since I expected everything BUT "this". :D I'm pretty sure nobody expected it either, since the scenario is so well done.
Drawback? Once you played it, you can restart a new game with a lot of fun but the "surprise" is no more. But don't worry, it's still addictive.

I got problem playing bad as well. I wanted to be a dark jedi but I kept getting light side points just because I coulnd't act bad enough, so I started another game as a true light side jedi -> much easier for me :)

Well you should know it's only a piece of pixels though ;)
But well, actually I registered on the Bioware KOTOR official forum and there were a lot of people still thinking our way. Now, why can't we just be evil even in a virtual game, that remains a mystery :)
Btw, I've just started a new game, being a male scoundrel. Now I'll go and get the romance with Bastilla so I can kiss her as well ;)
And I'll probably rush to the Jedi training. I heard there was a guy who was lvl 2 soldier and lvl 18 jedi!! I was only lvl 12 consular and lvl 8 scoundrel, since I completed all the missions in Taris. Actually it might be more interesting to be a jedi soon, for you get tons of powers.

I liked going dark side. The whole face going rotten and your companions hilarious remarks when you decided to do something really evil like steal the last property of a widow on tattooine and kill her was hilarious! Few games have given me the total satisfaction of being a total jackass since I slaid the whole world in Ultima 7.

-what are you saying!!??
-we can't do this!!!
-these actions can lead you to the dark side!!!

Gee, I've killed every living thing I could and I look like a bloated corpse. You think I might be going dark side?

Well if you played dark side, better be a woman, so you can cruise carth, make him fall in love and kill him :)
But the reasons I don't play DS are quite obvious. Imagine, *minor spoilers* if you want to read, highlight the text below.

Juhani is killed in the grove since you won't spare her life, being evil, Bastilla doesn't talk to you anymore because you cruised her too much, Zaalbar is kept as slave in Kaashyyk, you let him kill his best friend Mission earlier, so now your party is considerably small, you have not much choice. Knowing how gifted the Twi lek is, for demining.. Plus Juhani would have proved to be an excellent fighter in support, since she's a guardian.

So, after stating those arguments, it's obvious you have less choice, but living quite on your own, which is the mentality of a Sith, I admit.

PS: btw, what was the most cruel thing you did? Steal the poor widow's wraid plate in Tatooine? ;)
PS: answer me honestly, did you guess the truth before seeing the revelation cutscene or not? I didn't expect that.
PS2: Btw, a screenshot of me, in the mid game only. I already reached the top LS :D

Well, you should send me your savegame at the end, so I can see how it ends being evil, thanks :)
And for those who are interested in getting the amazing soundtrack of the game, there's RADtools game that can read all the wav files in the streammusic folder. FYI, they were all composed and performed by Jeremy Soule (he got the golden award for the game soundtrack of the year, for Morrowind. He also did the Total A soundtrack too)

Wouldn't you rather play once through as DarkSide? :D

It's quite fun, though I haven't played light yet.

here's the my light-side character

and the one where I started a dark-side char

This is a screenshot with a dual shortsabers, equipped with the legendary Mantle of the force, and Heart of Guardian. They're only available on the PC version (Yavin). I love shortsabers, much more accurate than standard ones.

Btw, last game, since I had time to waste, I tried to fight Malak the hard way and.. I almost succeeded. I used my fists (3damage, 23 tohit) + force wave to bring his HP to half. Actually it took me too long so I finally used a stun stick, doing 5 damage to kill him. I know it's not Quake 3 but I would have enjoyed hearing a voice off saying "Humiliation" :D
Damn, I got a laugh. I think I was rolling on the floor MAO for 5 minutes at least. It was hard, he destroyed 8 of my verpines shields but finally I got him.
Here's the final blow, for 4 damage :D

Maybe I should try hyper battle stimulants next time and really use pure Karate from the start to the end.
_ Im..impossible [cough] I.. I'm the Dark Lord.
_ And my name is Neo, Mr. Smith.

I am interested in getting this game. However my PC is a 1ghz AMD with 256 MB RAM which isn't much over the minimum specs. My graphics card is a Geforce 2 MX. Will KOTOR be playable on my computer?

I also got a 1Ghz Athlon although with 512 MB RAM and a Geforce 2 Pro, and it ran just fine on my computer, although you will have to run it on the lowest resolution.
