Star Wars: Return of the Mod

Okay, I'm starting on my next Scenario, the Galactic Civil War. I know I need some touch up work on my Clone Wars Scenario, however I need a change of pace and a break from Jedi and the Republic. I NEED CONQUEST!!

For this Scenario: Won't be so ambitious. One tech tree, one set of improvements, and wonders. However to build some wonders and units, the player must control a certain planet. For example to get the wonder Kuat Drive Yards, you must control the planet of Kuat and to build Noghri Assassins, you have to own Honoghr.

Thus far I have five civilizations: The Empire, the Rebellion, the Hutt Cartel, the Zann Consortium, and the Neutral planets. I might add a few more such as the Hapes consortium or the Chiss. I already have the Tech tree, improvements, wonders, and units mapped out and I just have to put them in the editor, get pictures etc.

I will use the same map as the Clone Wars Scenario, but will also provide a much smaller map (150*150 or 200*200) for the not so hare core people. I will also incorporate many of the comments and ideas I received from my Clone Wars Scenario.

No comment on how long this will take. Hopefully by Christmas because I start teaching in August and with a new career and all....

the yevetha and corporate sector authority are too small, but for the last two, great idea, they should be added; i also have a civ suggestion: the killik, giant hive mind insects

The Corporate Sector controlled nearly 30,000 star systems, that do's not seen very little...
The Yevetha Duskhan League controlled thirteen worlds, about the :mischief: same number as the Killik.

I want to include Civs that participated in the Galactic Civil War. The Corporate Sector was more or less allied with the Galactic Empire. The CSA was required to pay tribute of 3% to the Empire as well as tribute in raw materials. Many corporations in the Corporate Sector also researched tech for the Empire. Besides an Imperial Advisor was placed on the Direx Board to administer the Empires interests making the Corporate Sector more or less part of the Empire in all but name.

On the other hand, the Sector also supplied :mischief: Rebel Alliance with weapons and technology.

It would be interesting for Gameplay to have them as a sort of Wildcard Civ.
Especially as they use a lot of former CIS weaponry.

Ah, galactic civil war! My favourite! Can't beat the three original movies plus the plethora of EU!

As is my way i will put this in short-hand point form;
***EMPIRES***

- keep empire, rebellion, hutts
- change zann consortium to black sun (zann consortium have one game attributed to them, black sun had major political power even before the civil war)
- neutral planets are out - either barbarian planets or empty colinizable spaces - a 'neutral' civ of 20 planets would not stay neutral, nor would 20 neutral civs be allowed by the ai or the player to remain neutral (would be conquered quickly).
- Yevetha and ssi ruuvi - include, give them a few planets, and a huge fleet/army so they can try and conquer - either winning or losing. This gives more experienced players a more difficult challenge and well represents the books.
- CSA, only if you can... they wouldn't require much more in way of created units (just copy from hutts/smugglers and black sun/zann consortium)
- Yuuzhan vong came about 20 years after the GCW ended, so leave them out of this scenario.
- Also, i suggest chiss/hapes consortium be added, but put the chiss far out of reach from the main conflict. They could have affected the GCW but remained neutral.

***Techs***

- @sum_aar_jam I have a generic tech tree that i can send you to use plus a unit list... this should free you up to work on placement and buildings and not worry about these. Up to you of course.

jut in case u all have forgotten... I'm the one working on the GCW civilopedia so... if u guys have any unit entries plz send them to me, either by E-mail or posted.

I would like those too, seeing as i am making the civilopedia.

@SheepMonster: Terrific Ideas!! I agree with you on all points. However I do have a situation. I was wanting to add the "Neutral Civ" to represent the various planetary systems that were not aligned with anyone after the Clone Wars like the Corellian System. The idea I was wanting to create with the Neutral Civ was to have a relatively weak civilization that the Galactic Empire and the Rebellion can expand into. I don't want that civ to remain neutral so to speak, beacuse the various planets that declared their neutrality were quickly drawn into the Civil War. Having a "neutral" civ will allow conquest in the early stage of the game for both the Empire and the Rebellion without the two engaging in war too early. Think of it was consolidating power for the Empire and diplomatic advancements for the Rebellion. It also adds a little historical accuracy if the Empire had to expand and consolidate its hold on its Empire like it had to do immediately after the Clone Wars.

Alrighty here are a few modifications to my Galactic Wars Scenario:
-Changed Zann Consortium to Black Sun
-will keep neutral powers however don't let the name fool you. The Neutral planets are the planets that weren't allied with either the Empire nor the Rebellion. they were also planets that harbored Jedi Knights. An example would be Naboo and Kashyyyk. These will be in the neutral civ category. This will give the Empire a change to grab real estate and purge the rest of the Galaxy of the remaining Jedi. If someone can give me another name besides "Neutral" please add to it.
-My scenario timeline begins right after Order 66 and the Declaration of the New Order and ends at the Battle of Endor. I know the Galactic Civil War was suppose to go to 19 BBY, however I wanted the scenario to depict the Rebel Alliance not the New Republic fighting the Galactic Empire lead by Emperor Palpatine not the Imperial Remanant
-I don't know about adding the Yevetha. They did not have hyperdrive technology and were conquered by the Empire right after the fall of the Republic. The Yevetha didn't get ahold of starships until they revolted against the Empire shortly after the battle of Endor taking many warships from the Empire from the Black-15 shipyards above their homeworld of N'zoth. As stated, the Yevetha became major players during the Black Fleet Crisis AFTER Endor, which my scenario ends. For those who want the Yevetha, I will include them in my next scenario, the Rise of the New Republic.
-I will add the ssi ruuvi since the Galactic Empire was in contact with them giving them planets to Cull humans from. Besides who wouldn't want a life sucking civilization
-I will add the Chiss since Admiral Thrawn was from there and they were at war with the ssi ruuvi. Having two wars go on at one time would be cool!
-Hapes Consortium MIGHT be added. I must do more research on them. They did capture some Star Destroyers from the Empire so maybe there was conflict between the two powers.
-the CSA will also be added so that I may include some Separatist droid units and starships.
-I will make two maps: One the huge map I used for my Clone Wars Scenario and a much smaller one (150*150). I might also create smaller scenarios depicting battles or smaller campaigns
-I also have resources that are specific for building certain wonders and units. For example to create the wonder "501st Legion Barracks" (which autoproduces the unit the 501st Legion) you need the resource Naboo and Coruscant.

Hope this is a starter that will satisy most people :)

Here is my big idea for the neutral systems.
- Call them 'unruly systems' or 'anarchic planets' or 'angry farmers' or soemthing.
- In Rome Total War one empire (called the rebels) are designed purely for expansion at the beginning of the game. That is the purpose of the angry farmers - to be quickly conquered.
- The neutrals are given the same tech tree filled with the same buildings, workers, wonders, etc as the other civs but are only given several units for the entire game; garrison, militia, and police speeder are their ground units (defensive, draft and offensive), and a couple of space units; Z-95 Headhunter, Pirate Frigate, Pirate Destroyer. All relatively weak but still able to do some damage.
- This civ is locked in war with everyone else. This is so they do not make some military alliance or mutual protection pact, limiting expansion.

Btw, approve of everything in previous post - how come 501st need naboo tho?

@SheepMonster-Still working on the new name for the "Neutral" civ, but yeah they will have the same tech tree, improvements, and have some weak units that will do damage but not overrun the Galaxy. I also plan on placing a large amount of units on planets that were hard to conquer like Yevetha. The fixed war thingy is a good idea too.

The reason the 501st needs Naboo is because the 501st became known as Vader's Fist right after the Empire invaded Naboo and disposed of the Queen. This was more or less the 501st's debue in the Galactic Civil War and where for the first time they played an integral part in Galactic politics by overthrowning a legitimate government. The Empire has to conquer the planet of Naboo to "represent" the Battle of Naboo (Imperial Era) where the 501st became famous Galaxy wide

This looks good i just hope it doesn't get scrapped and forgotten like the other star wars scenarios

It won't. I already have the first tech tree era done with all the units, improvements, and wonders that go in the first era. I won't say when, but hopefully soon. Doing the Clone Wars Scenario has taught me a few tricks about creating a scenario.

Okay here are the civilizations that will be in my Galactic Civil Wars Scenario: Galactic Empire, Rebel Alliance, Hutt Cartel, Black Sun, Corporate Sector Authority, Ssi-ruuk Imperium, Chiss Ascendancy, and the Independants (formally Neutrals).

Each ones will have their own unique units. All will have the same Tech Tree and improvements, however some wonders and improvements need a necessary resource to be built. For example to build the wonder Entechment you will nee the planet of Lwehkk (homeworld of the Ssi-ruuk)

I will make a smaller map along with my huge 365*365 Star Wars Galaxy Map. About how large should my smaller map be to increase load up time and provide for greater game play for less patient players?
