Star Wars: The Mod - Unit requests

Alright, Providence is in game, but now I've got a few problems. First, the unit is too low...centered, but way too low. It's under the square it's supposed to be in. I don't really know how to fix this. It also will flicker, disappearing for like a split-second every once in a while. It gets really annoying after a while. It'll also do this during the run animation. I've also got this dark shadow appearing on the top upper edge of the animation, obviously from the render.

Anyone know how to fix these things? Other than that, my Providence is done animation-wise, and I'm just waiting on some decent sounds to pop up on the internet somewhere.

@ Blackhand - The background is completely gray because that is the default background setting in Civ3FlcEdit. You can go to the Background menu to change the background.

Centering is easy in CivFLCEdit. Go to Tools > Change Offset and then change the offset in the XY boxes until it's centered, also make sure you go to File > Save to save the changes. If your frame is 240x240 you won't be able to do this. If that is the case you can export your storyboard to FLC and re-export it to storyboard and enable "trim frame borders" to trim the size of the frame. The other way would be to completely re-render your animations at a smaller frame size, but this will take much longer.

I can't help you on the flickers or animation anomalies unless I actually see the animations.

Sorry I haven't posted here in a while, but I've had a huge breakthrough. As I have aquired virtually every starship ever conceived, I'm not entirely sure what I should make. Right now I'm working on some Separatist capital ships (i.e. Recusant, Techno Union Destroyer, Hardcell, Diamond Cruiser). Sound good?

Wow, that's exciting! Sounds like we'll have the Separatist Navy done in no-time at all. I've figured out what was wrong with my Providence (it was my stupidity, imagine that...), so hopefully I'll get that out soon. After that, it's on to the TF Battleship and Droid Control Ship.

It sounds like everything is going along great. I need to try to start making some units before they're all already made. lol

Can anyone give me pointers on how to make the Unit Icons? That and an attack sound are really all I need before I can release my Providence.

Providence is up. Keep in mind it's still a work in progress, but I think the version now will do quite well, and it'll let me move onto the TF Battleship and Droid Control Ship.

Thats great!

Can anyone give me an update on how far any other Star Wars units might be to completion?

To make Civilopedia Icons you could render an image from OpenFX as the pedia icons. Pedia icons must be 256 colors with the last 2 colors as magenta, and usually with a white background. The large icon is 128x128 and the small icon is 32x32 and both saved as pcxs.

To make units_32 icons, the best way is going into flicster and opening up the Default.flc. The unit should be facing SE and be a red civ-color (1 or 23 are good colors) and now hit Print Screen on your keyboard. Open up a image editing program and paste the image. You can now crop and re-size the unit until it looks good at 32x32. It needs to be 256 colors and pcx. For the best result it should share the same palette as the main Units_32 sheet.

You will find out...soon. ;)
You leavin me hanging bro. ;) More units already!? Wow you're really working away! :D

Thanks again, Chris, not only for the unit help with the Providence, but for the little tidbit about icons. I'm sure I'll be using that again in the next few days. I've got another question though, for anyone who can help - what's the easiest way to do civ-specific coloring??

As for the Providence, a new fixed version with help courtesy of Chris is available at the same thread, first page. :goodjob:

Oh, and here's a quick something else for you all to enjoy  I'll have the animations done for sure tonight, maybe even come up with a few sounds between here and there. Should be out soon :goodjob:
