As for helping you with OpenFX, Odin, I'd be glad to. Since I'm no master myself, I really doubt I could make a tutorial, but I'd be more than happy to try and answer any questions you have for me. Just PM me some time if you have any.

Alright, time for another preview! I've got all the animations done for the Lambda, and hopefully I can get her put together and in-game by tonight. If anyone could volunteer and find me some sounds for it, I would greatly appreciate it!

Everyone said the first was too big. I think either one would work, this one would look better when compared to the Capital Ships already in-game. Nevertheless, I can still change it because I've yet to put it into storyboard form...kind of having some minor problems in that arena but they should be ironed out soon. In the meantime, I've been working on some new models...more previews to come ;-)

Blackhand, you could always render a still frame of it, and then compare that to the vanilla fighter or something to get the right size. This is what I did for the V-19.

The size doesn't look bad at all, I'd say make it a touch bigger, but do what Olorin said and compare with the scale of the Firaxis units. There is also some problems with the lighting, it's shining too brightly on the lower part and on the dorsel wing it is too dark. This is the same exact problem I had with my B-Wing. I'd try lowering the lights so they shine more directly on the dorsel wing and maybe making them dimmer so it's not so bright on the rest of the ship. It will take a lot of fiddling around to get the right lighting, but eventually it will look right.

@ BlackHand - the scale looks perfect. The problem is with most of our space units are that they are too big. I can't wait to see the results, .

I agree. What I did with the Starwars (and StarGate) fighters I made was to compare the cabin size to the cabin size of several stock civ units. Generally fighters are a bit too big compared to capital ships, but so long as all the fighters more or less match each other in scale it all works.

Ahh, thanks for posting those Bjornlo. I was trying to find some decent civ-scale previews without reinstalling Civ3 (holding off as long as I can for that one ) and these are perfect. I'll try to keep the scale right to those for the appropriate units and use my Providence-Class cruiser for the capital ships.

[edit] After fooling with the lighting of the Lambda, I couldn't get a configuration that worked, so I think we're going to have to just deal with what we have. Anything else puts an awful glare to the cockpit, and I think having the lighting as it is now is far better than just a white smudge where the cockpit should be.

Is it possible for you to change the material settings or textures of the cockpit to reduce the reflectivity?

That would be done in the render/animator program.
The paint program can change somethings but I suspect it can not change things like reflectivity. How do you make a pixel "reflect" more? You can change th hue, color and saturation certainly... but render specific things are (so far as I know) only possible in a render program.
