i have planets within the radius of starbase effects, but in the planet screen when i check the details it shows that they are having no effect. what am i missing? maybe i'm just not looking at it right. it is late :) . it's fun.

What kind of starbase? The only starbase that will effect planets themselves is an economic starbase that you add on production enhancer modules to. The others such as the military have an "area of effect".

If you have an economic starbase that is providing military, social, and research bones and a planet is within the influence area of the starbase the bonuses will get applied. They won't show up on the details screen though.

Save your game, try destroying the starbase and see if the production levels change on the affected planet.

i have planets in the sphere of influence of a starbase that say they have no starbase bonuses when i check the details of this planet. for example: i have a research starbase with two planets near it, and they don't list any bonuses from this starbase. other planets are near influence bases and same thing. a follow up to this then is, what needs to occur for me to have a starbase bonus listed on my planets' details screen.

You can't build a research starbase in Galciv 2...

You probably mean RESOURCE star bases. The bonuses provided by resources are empire-wide, not just in the area of effect.

EDIT manual pg. 43. Didn't trust myself ;-)

I'm still a little confused on how econ starbases work. I know if I put one on a trade route then everytime on of MY ships passes it it gets money or something. what about when another civs trade ship passes through it? same thing?

also can i "stack" bonus' of econ starbases? do they have to havce an area of effect around one of my own planets to get the bonus or can i place one way out in another civ's territory and still get a bonus.

also, how many can i build on a trade route my ship passes through? If I build 10 econ starbases on one of my trade routes will I get the money bonus 10 times?

This is just hearsay, I'm planning for some experiments as soon as I have time ... and finished the current game ;)

Yes, yes, yes, yes. Just hearsay, as said before:

- any trade route will add to the bonus,
- you can stack bases for their effects,
- effects work in foreign territory,
- build with a distance of 3, get as many as you can.

Also, I build econ starbases mainly for their effect on building and research (I'm running 60% research after initial expansion), trade bonus modules come in only as an afterthought or when I'm money-strapped.

Did I mention this is just hearsay? OK ;)

Regards.
