StarGate SG1 Preview

After playing with the map revealed, I discovered several AI anomalies and had to adjust several domain/role definitions. Thereafter I had to switch several unit slots to realign the sound mapping after the adjustments. I think I've reached a point where I've dealt with the glaring problems and I've played the first half satisfactorily without having to start over.

As there aren't so many people here anyway, should I release a beta for test play or just wait till I'm done (you know refinements, game.txt windows, AI tweaking, pedia and adviser entries etc.) Of course I'm looking for testers who will keep a log of activities and errors, not just some guy who will give a three line comment. If you are the latter, just wait for the release version.

I started playing the Stargate and I like it very much. It is a fast-moving and exciting game. Players can meet (and fight, of course) a variety of units right at the very beginging of the game! And yet, more and more advanced units will make their debut at later stages. That keeps you really busy.

Kobi-san, my latest saved game is attached.

Happy to see you are enjoying it. I played it like 20x having to start over each tim and i haven't reached the end even. Please list down bugs (even minor typos) as you discover them.

I'll playtest! I just got my CivII disk back, and I'm ready for a new scenario!

I triggered the supernova explosion finally. Although the enemy's mothership fleet was destroyed, their ground units like Reetoo (with attack of 12) are so powerful that my units do not stand a chance to survive if attacked. I have opened up the last part of the map but there are so many enemies' units and they are blocking the entrances to the Replicator's world. Sometimes, I have to use some units to trick them away before I can get through.

Here are the bugs:
1. Terrain names and pictures do not seem to match in the civilopedia.
2. There are about ten different terrain named "minerals" while the pictures are different.
3. In the defence minister, it is said that SG1's defence is 2x vs "Horse".
4. It is said that the Tok'ra has a movement of 10 in the Civilopedia while in reality it is just 4.

We seem to be a bit late in the day already and many of the fixes required have been implimented already. The release is quite imminent. I think I am going to do a limited release of version 1.0 for us few chaps at civfan for a second round of 'testing' before giving acces of version 1.1 to the folks over at Apolyton. So maybe I can rely on you for your comments then. thanks.

Reetoo - maybe I'll tone them down a bit. And after what you said about the spaceshuttle2 units earlier, I've decided to give it a higher attack factor so it can at least kill the AI Serebus class ships.

1&2. those would be the terrain bonuses - I may have to rename some of them.

3. Yes that needs to be changed

4. I think that is the aircraft range left over from before it became a naval unit. I'll see.

What at what time index did you open up

stage 2 (i.e. Chulak)
stage 3 (i.e. NID Base)
stage 4 (everything)

Kobi-san,

stage 2 (i.e. Chulak) - time index 20
stage 3 (i.e. NID Base) - time index 28
stage 4 (everything) - time index 103

See my latest saved file as attached.

I look forward to you playing it as well clockboy. If you are a SG1 fan, don't get your hopes up too much. There were so many important story arcs I wanted to build into the scenario. It all startd out fine but as it moved to the later seasons I began running out of event space and unit slots. In the end, many were just represented by Wonders (like Oma Dasala or the Harcesis) or dropped completely (like Aschen episodes or the discovery of the Ancient's arctic base).
