Started playing on king yesterday. Apparently its the first difficulty on which comps get a boots funny thing is the comps became more moronic. The turk expanded way beyond his means getting his empire to -28 gold, how he did that i have no idea but he is fighting a war. The AI seems bad is no many ways.

Bottom line is when i get enough happiness to start taking cities i'm thinking its gonna be cakewalk :) Next difficulty here I come.

Also as far as I've seen the AI is by far the worst on archipelago he just cant keep up with the fleets. Gets completely zoned out and than crushed.

I'll probably start playing only on Pangaea only, thats the hardest right?

PS: Why is civ5 so easy???
PS2: On which difficulty does the game begin getting hard.

AFAICS, running a deficit robs you of beakers but not much else. So his science was probably starting to lag, but otherwise he could carry on as normal.

Depends. Continents are more likely to give you the 'runaway AI' because you can't actually do as much about the guys on the other continent until Astronomy. Plus, even with the AI's water deficiencies, launching a continental invasion is still a PITA. OTOH, Pangaea is more likely to get you boxed in and/or drop a unit spamming aggro-nutter close enough that you'll have to deal with an early rush.

So I'd say pangaea makes a harder early-game, but continents make for the more difficult mid to end game.

Thanks for the tips, since I've tried the Pangaea already on a lower difficulties and to be honest didn't find it even remotely hard when i played the Germans, so i guess i'll switch to a king game on continents tonight.

Which do you guys think are the hardest setups to play?

I usually turn on complete kills.

Hmmm.. There's plenty of hard setups.

Filling a Pangea map with warmongerers (Alexander, Napoleon, Mongolia etc.).

Duel against Inca and Aztec on a highlands map with small lakes.

I personally find Pangea difficult. Sometimes you have a different civ at every border.
