starting locations

ok ive not been playing or following the forums for a while. since the patch of last week, whats the deal with starting locations - is there a "civ 2" type option (i.e. in the main menu) of playing on a world map with correct locations, or do i have to use somebody's mod? if so, is there a recommended mod?

if you open up the world mp inthe scenario edtor you can sort the starting positions out there
