startup Crash

When i try to start the game there is a small loading screen like usual but when it starts checking the XML a window which sais ''Sid Meier's Civilization 4 has stopped working'' appears. This is the first time ive played this game since i recently bought a new computer with windows 7. my old computer used windows vista.

The basic version is not compatible with the newest OS versions, only the addosn are.
You might try to run it in XP compatibility mode, but not sure if this will solve the problem.
The easiest thing to solve it is to buy the addons for 7€ at amazon, or so.

Basic Civ 4 works fine for me on Windows 7. You must patch the game to v1.74. You will also need to install the game (and the patch) by right-clicking on the setup file and choosing run as administrator.
