Anyone got this game? Whats your impression?

To me it appears slightly dated (graphically) and not particularly immersive. The battles tend to consist of you running strategically towards the enemy and then dancing around them while holding the trigger. Also the Jedi bits are awkward to control, as you have to run up to everyone and press attack, while controlling where you look with the mouse (mey be easier on consoles).

Still, its a good distraction and I feel it will become one of those games which I can play when I've nothng to do, and the battles are vibrant. I was also impressed at how they've implemented space battles.

So, any other opinions?

I'm hoping there will be a demo out soon (or if there is one I can't find it). I enjoyed playing split-screen Battlefront with a friend on PS2. If this sequel can maintain that for the consoles I'm happy.

Will wait and see, looking forward to seeing the space battles for myself.

Random thoughts:

I have it. I loved Battlefront so much, I couldn't resist. The heroes were hard to play at first (console), but I'm getting used to them. I'm also learning the trooper classes more. I'm not learning these classes as fast as the classes in the original. The sprint and accleration is interesting. Starships are fun to fly. Landing a transport on an enemy docking bay is fun. Being Yoda and Sidious rocks! Other heroes are great, too (Luke, Vader, Mace, Leia, Obi-Wan, Aayla, Han, Chewie, and Boba are the ones I played so far other than the other two). I like having a jedi sprint and then use his lightsaber, while doing so. Very nice.

It's great. I just have to get used to it.

Not super impressed.

Very awkward controls. Not intuitive at all.The camera control is what throws me

So far,I am mostly running and gunning. Not that much fun really

Light sabre/sabers are cool, but awkward as well.

After more play( a fair bit) I can only conclude this genre is not for me because this game is total crap imo

Graphics are dark, fuzzy and just plain bad.I'll blame the ps2 version for this

but,its the gameplay that is the killer.

You just run around in frenzied state of mayhem. No thinking. No strategy..just run and gun.

This game has 1 of my most hated things in games:regenerating baddies..and they are everywhere.
You've seen the battles in the movies. It makes for a good flic but a bad game.TOO many/much enemys/stuff on the battlefield..its ridiculous

Space battles...argh..once again..a screen full of regenerating bad guys..can't see worth crap.Lots luv this but its just as bad as ground fighting.

I won't go too far about the awkward controls and horrible cameras...Thank Lord for CoD2.....

Online play is a joke as well.Because of player's love for mines, you can barely take a step without dying.

one other little thing:my ps2 is working REAL hard to run this game.It makes all manner of unpleasant noises when this game is running...bit scary

I love it, especially being Jedi. Its fun to cut off rebel heads as Vader. I dont like space fights though. THey take a long time for me. The fighters seem to go really slow also. Anybody else notice this?

Did you hold down R3 for boost?

I always land a shuttle in the enemy's hanger and take out her systems from the inside...that WAS fun.Flying around knocking out fighters/bombers does take forever.

I'd like to know whose idea it was to put the camera and accelerator on the same stick.

I have found that Galactic Conquests is kinda fun although it does become repetitive.

Online play is also very buggy, and mysteriously full of German's () which is great for multiculturalism, awful for trying to understand what is going on.

One thing I think is that its too easy to move. Your on the battlefield and the sole defense online is too jump around like an idiot so people cant get a lock on you. I think something needs to be done about that. All players have too much health aswell which makes grenades and mines overeffective.

Space battles are dull, after the first three

Shuttles are fun...

Heh. Just switch the controls in the menu.

Conquests is horribly repetitive, but it is better than the original Battlefront's Conquests (really, really, horribly repetitive).

I wish there were more campaigns than Rise of the Empire, though.

@Truronian: I'm not surprised about the Germans playing a battle oriented video game. Certain games always attract a large number of people from one, two, maybe even three nations far more so than any other nations. I use to play a game, where most playing were either American or Turkish.

I like being able to fight as a Jedi or Sith the most. The weapon is interesting but getting around the map really quick, I think, makes up for that. The Hero battle isn't too bad, though the Jedi's always seem to win. One down is that they removed one of my favorite planets, Bespin, I liked the intense battles I got into in the Cloud City (and Platforms).

edit: duplicate.

ive got the PSP version, and its got 4 campaigns, so you get to be one of each side.

i actually find it to be the best PSP game so far, although [people who have the console ad PC versions tell me of bits i miss out on, like flying into the enemy ship and destroying its systems from the inside. on this version, noe can only fly into the enemy capital ship and shoot dead plots respawning on their way to a ship, or steal the ships, which is usefull because my favourites are the CIS bomber in clone wars and the TIE bomber in galactic civil war.

i also like the differences between the pilots and marines.

also, i must say, screw using snowspeeders on hoth to bring tdown the AT-ATs, just use the rebel vanguards missile launcher!

Has anyone played the Space Kashyyk? (spelled right?)
That's a hard level if you don't do it fast enough.
In my Rise of the Empire campaign, I did all of the objectives pretty quickly. Then I had to bring the flag (hologram) back to my cruiser. But then, I had no support, I was the only Republic soldier in the sky.
So, every Clone turret, ship gun, and plane centered in me. I was lucky if I made it to the other ship.
How do you beat that?

I don't remember. Did you try evasive maneuvers or speed boosting?

I've beaten it a while ago. Maybe I should give the whole thing another go.

Edit: It is Kashyyyk

I was using the manuvers, etc. The problem was that every Droid gun, including the fighters could cause attention on me. I finally beat it though by going the long way, around my ship across the ends of the ships and then entering the Droid Cruiser through the back.

They always focus their attention on the player. You are the dangerous one. ;) Glad you beat it.

Question: What difficulty level are you playing?
