I've been thinking... How spoiling is it that we can see each other's map? Cos if we decide it's not that bad the making of the web site will be much easier. We can have an overall map and an overall story on the front page from the start. And if you secretly settle on a distant island, you may erase that from the map you send to me (for making that overall map). And secret armies that go somewhere will only be shown in the logs which we still won't read.

I think knowing the starting location of others won't be that bad. :) But if you disagree, then just forget about it.

It would weaken the expansionist trait. Aeson has posted a good thread at Poly on the importance of knowing the map for forming your strategy.

I dont think its a good idea. I dont mind close up pix - its the big pic that gives too much away.

Agree with Plexus and Col. I don't want you to see me coming ;)

You may be a better civer than me anarres, but rest assured, I will see you comming. ;)

I never claimed to be better than anyone. Beating the AI involves working out the numbers mostly, and predicting it's behaviour.

These PBEM games will be the real test of skill.

I dunno, we are playing against each other.
Yea, but it never matters much because when you know a part of the map, you always see it when another city is built there. The only thing the others see is what you've explored and they haven't, and what you strictly want to keep as a secret, you can erase...

But I see that all of you disagree, so never mind...

By the way, sabo10 wanted to join but hasn't responded yet. And without him, we're still with only five. Shall we play with us five, or wait for more players?

Matrix, for me knowing others start lcations is a big advantage. I understand that it would be the same for everyone, but it changes the game somewhat.

Once we have the world map each, then I would be more willing to post my local maps and minimap.

It would be interesting to play a game where all maps were public, and on second thought I want to abstain. I would be happy playing either way.

I cans see it both ways too. If evryone has the public map then I guess there's no advantage for anyone.

Do what you want to do, Matrix.

If any room come availible, ill play, Sage Williams is my name and Greece is my game (civ).

Although I started and lead this PBEM, is as much your game as it is mine. ;) So never mind. We can always decide otherwise during the game...

TheRealGameSage, welcome! I hope you are going to stay and not stay away as Sabo10 does. A few things: are you acquainted with making web pages and aware of the obligations with joining this PBEM? I.e. at least noting your demographics every turn?

Furthermore, what Civ do you like to play and what's your email address? :)

Ok. Too bad about the space in your name... :undecide:

But I'll sign you up! :) Last question: where do you live? That's important for the sequence of turns.

The game is on!

I've got a nice startup location. I'll update my section soon. From now on you may not read my log anymore! ;)

I've taken a screenshot of the map in the military advisor screen and zoomed out while centering the map on my capital. And I've noted the demographics.

The demographics are a must! You don't have to send me your demographics every turn, but do note them every turn. Then every five turns or so (or whatever you want), send them to me...

As per Matrix first post

Is this game full?
