Statue of Liberty

Should be actually. Vanilla BNW doesn't have the +1 to musician and writer in it in the xml.

Easy fix for us.

Does it now give +1 production to all specialists and an extra +1 to the artist types? That seems too strong?
But if it only gives +1 production to the artist types, that seems a bit weak.

The writer and musician did not give production from Statue of Liberty in default, it's a BNW bug, so it would be now giving them both +1 as intended, alongside the effects it grants on artists.

I don't think that's too weak as these specialists are quite powerful at providing culture and great works/tourism effects, but there are only a handful of such slots available. It might be sufficient to do +1 production and have some other wonder impact their culture or gold production as a secondary effect (the cristo super artist effect from before would much more limited in value with fewer "artist" slots but could still do this alongside other effects).

I'm confused: in BNW, doesn't the statue still give +1 production to all specialists?

If all you do is +1 production to musicians, artists and writers then you are only giving +6 production empire-wide because of the limited slots. That's a pretty weak effect for a wonder that costs hundreds of hammers.

I guess there is the free social policy too, but I don't find that to be such a big deal by the late game.

It gives it to all specialists yes, which is potentially very much more than +6 hammers. It wasn't giving it to writers and musicians as a bug in the (default) game. That's all that was changed is that it now also impacts them correctly.

Ah! So originally it gave +1 production to engineers, scientists, merchants, and artists. Then they forgot that there were now musicians and writers, and these didn't get the benefit in BNW.

So now its back to +1 production for all specialists.

Thanks, I understand.

Yup. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

The artist question is still very relevant for the GEM design for Cristo though.
