Stealing Settler magically turns it into Worker...

Liz and I are close, and I don't mean friendly. War is inevitable. I saw her Settler and DOW'd to take it.

But when I do it turns into a worker.

I guess they're afraid stealing a settler is too powerful a move.

Bummer, I wanted the free settler!

It has been like that since Civ 3 actually (and before that, there were no workers and settlers were destroyed instead of captured). Getting the settler would be way too strong in the early game.

Yeah, you don't want some other civ's settler doing the settling, you want them to work for you.

Just imagine you captured a Settler, make them settle a new city for you. Fifty turns later they revolt and join their old empire.
