I am so sick of Steam. I play Civ V by myself, when I like to...which hasn't been happening, and when I just want to unwind. Lately 4 to 6 days a week, I get some stupid error message from Steam saying my account is in use. To reset, means swapping e-mails and a few hours before I even get to try to play the game again, and usually when I re-start it, it doesnt work. I have done the things Steam says... and the next day...same thing. I am just so sick of. I love Civ, but I just want to get rid of it. I hjave played this game since... I believe 1988. Probably before most of you were born. Back in the day when modems made weird noises. Civ 1 rocked my world, and I have been a fan since then. Now, with Civ V and Steam, I just want to cry and puke. God, I wish Sid could read this e-mail, and understand that some of us Oldies, dont want internet games. I dont know a lot about securing my IP adress, or whatever, and I dont want to. I just want to play a game. Steam allows me to do 1 thing. Go to bed pissed off. Thank you Steam for absolutely no support, and Sid, PLEASE from now on, dont rely on others to help you maintain perfection. They will drop you like a soft boiled egg on a dirty floor, scoop you up, and try to serve it. Can I get my money back from an opened but very unused and loved game? What irony in that last sentance. Loved and un-used.....not something you often hear. I cant play the game again tonight, yet Steam has offered their support, which didnt work, so my game is loved, yet hated, and definately dusty.

Well, I'm furious with Steam too (expecially when my internet connection goes out and Steam doesn't want to start in offline mode, thus preventing me from playing; .....not to mention MANY other things....!!), but I also understand that, as time goes on and tech evolves, software always gets depending on other stuff (eg., what about your Windows version is bugged, or your graphic adapter driver malfuncions?)

I must admit that now Civ5 is an online-mode game; just get a broad-band internet connection, and keep it up and running.
Willing or unwilling, that's the way things work now; not just Civ5, but most of the existing software.
