So I have pre-ordered civ along time ago (because even if I dont like vanilla I will like the mods so may as well buy now). And I have recently decided to buy the digital deluxe edition to get to play Babylonia. So why are the stupid requirements of steam making me cancel my order to get DD instead of just allowing me to upgrade my purchase? Should be a simple upgrade to get something more. I don't want to go through all the hassle of canceling my order just to have to order again.:crazyeye: What kind of customer service are we really getting?:(

It's not an upgrade, they are 2 different products.

Making things automated means needing less support. Also to the OP, you may want to contact customer services if that is less of a hassle, but since you need to pay extra I do not think they can help you.

In the end though I do not feel this is a very valid complaint. You could have waited with your purchase rather than requesting steam to convert your pre-order. It matters not if the products are practically similar because to the program they may very well be different things.

Order what you wasn't next time? ;)
He has a point though. Steam is not really about customer service. More about making everything automated.

Sorry, word phone issue double posting like that. My bad. :p

It seems logical to me. You would not be able to ''upgrade'' on any other website that I know of.

Any website for a real physical store would probably let you make the upgrade. Sure, you mightn't be able to do it without contacting a real person, but that's why most businesses that sell games have real people you can ask such things. :)

And in the background the real person is probably canceling and redoing your order, exactly like you could have done yourself in a shorter time.

Is it easy to do on Steam? I haven't tried cancelling a preorder before.

Canceling a preorder on steam isn't difficult, you just have to contact customer service and tell them.
