Update

Our "alleged spy" has voted in at least 15 polls and (nearly) always in a way that can be described as "give C3B what is the best deal for C3B".

TF and 40J have been notified, but still haven't read their PMs.

EMP Napoleon has PM-ed 40J in the UN to urge him to check the PM's I send at CFC.

This cannot be serious. So he even voted!

I still believe some people sometimes can have some decency and nothing can change that. Even this. Though it comes really close.

You know we would have noticed this a lot earlier if we had supported public voting. We would have seen the citizens vote for whomever, no feelings hurt (unless you take it more personally than your wife of 20 years saying "I'm leaving you and marrying your best friend), and this one anonymous dude voting suspiciously against our interests.

@Hygro: Looks like Patriot Act to me. Might be somehow useful sometimes in RL but cannot be acceptable in Demogame IMvHO. But he is not that crazy to vote on an open poll??

Look who showed up, I've been away and when I returned he's been offline:

Johannes : hi

akots: yes, the chat is tomorrow 5pm GMT. Sorry I've been "away"

It's not the patriot act. No one is gonna be imprisoned, spied upon, banished, or have their corporation protected from lawsuits regarding medicines with dangerous side effects.

What it would do is show who voted for what. I want to know how people vote because its important it's an important step to know why someone voted that way to take that into account. Taking information into account translates into improving the nation.

Didn't UKguy have 1 post when he asked to join? Funny thing, I actually suspected him at the time but then went "naw, he was probably a forum lurker who decided to join so he could participate in this fun game"

edit: (yes he had and has one post)

Also, why is it suspected to be Joker?

THis is the first time I have heard that we discovered a mole in this game

There are a few other indirect and direct evidences more or less consistent with the assumption. However their validity remains to be estimated by an independent expert (such as 40J). As well as possible impact on game development.

That is what we were told back in school in Russia during the Communist days when little boys and girls were asking why they should reveal their vote to everyone. Fortunately, it has been allowed to pee in private there. :)

Hmm, this is why in the SPDG, the majority of the polls are made public so that we can catch an unregistered citizen.

Now that would be a compelling arguement, except for one thing: no one can oppress here. It's not possible. That's why the internet works as a place of anarchy: because no one can actually control others.

This is horrible news, and the fact that some-one cheats on us and on the MSDG as a whole is really sad.
There however, no reason to support public polls right now. Mods appear to have the ability to see, even with a non-public poll, who voted. They can't see who voted for what, but at least they can see who voted. That way the mods can carry the responsibility (like it happened this time, thanks to the very sharp eye of Rik) of securing the forums. We don't have to do that, and we shouldn't do that. That could cause an unnecessary suspicion against everyone who votes and doesn't post that often.

Besides, I also morally stand up against public voting, especially during elections. Everyone should have the right to privately vote. And if, and only if, you want to ventilate your opinion, you can do that by posting your opinion.

Still no response from FortyJ.

My god, that Joker is such a complete

! This has to mean the termination of C3B, and it will mean that we all played that diplo game with C3B for nothing! Aw man, this sucks! :cringe:

Well, at least we'll propably be in the finals if C3B is killed. :D

That would be the only good thing in this besides that C3B won't be there.

The IP-address and hostname are Brazilian. That doesn't prove anything; I know; but it is part of the very suspicious situation.

Were we able to get the MAC address of the computer?

For nothing? I sure had a blast out of it :p

Rik or Matrix: Do you know if this 'spy' has been passing the information on to C3B, or has he just been trying to sway us in polls? Thanks for your hard work.
