I reckon that when the spy was a president of that team himself and that he was acting president while he was spying out here to that this can only have grave consequences for their team ,also considering that the power of the president in c3B is that much greater.

Wait till this stuff become's known on the UN forum ,they will want the guy hanged... ,and with good cause.

This is the first time that such spying happened,or atleast became known however i don't think there is much spying in ISDG ,and deffinatly not on this level.

Expect jokerDF to get a perma ban from Civfanatics ,ISDG games and all it's teams (plus they getting his IP to check if he got a DL) ,we probably demanding C3B site to perm ban JokerDF to.
An investigaby ISDG admins on C3B secure forum needed to ,if they havn't cleared evidence should this have been team policy... (therefore the need to not inform UN yet)

UK Guy joined Fanatikou end April 2004 ,thats end april+ may+ june+ juli+ august+ september+ end october or otherwise about 6 full months of spying ,since UN had forum rearrangements the turn thread changed ,but the first post in the turn tracker on UN forum is 1790bc (turn 50) from June 2004,so he's about here from roughly turn 40! :nuke:

Edit ,by checking our forum history he's been here since turn 35-40 ,about the same time when we made contact with C3B he joined up.

BTW, the spy's IP has been banned from the ISDG chatroom. I can't ban him from the server unless he actually did something wrong to the IRC server or against the IRC server rules.

Just jumping in here.
Looks like this this could get icky.
If Duck is right (re: his signup time), this could be a bigger problem than we thought.. What would the reprocussions be if he was found to be a C3B planted agent? Could this result in a major UN ruling (possibly, oh, I dont know, kicking them out and us getting their land?)

I'm actually gonna stay tuned for this one.

Rik or Matrix: Do you know if this 'spy' has been passing the information on to C3B, or has he just been trying to sway us in polls? Thanks for your hard work.
This is the most important question. And the answer is: No we don't know.
The only facts we have is that a person with an IP-address identical to Joker had access to our ISDG-forum.
That person has actively voted on our forum.
He was hidden when I spotted him.
That person has a non-existent email address.
That person suggest that he is from a location he is not.

That's (about) it. Let's not jump to conclusions.
Best case scenario: It is an awkward coincidence.
Worst case scenario: C3B President actively spied on us and tried to influence our decision porgress.
Most likely scenario: somewhere in the middle.

I urge our citizens to calm down until we have word from 40J.

Just a quote from chat:
...
<akots> has been strictly followed by the CFC team
<akots> so that CFC does not default on the agreement if agreement is approved
<Johannes> what was unnofficial and unaroved?
<Johannes> you tech line research?
<akots> hence, the said agreement has been actually the key factor determining the CFC tech progress
<akots> we cannot afford to be erratic
<akots> it should always be optimal
<Johannes> that was unnofficial, and not even polled i your forum...
<akots> it is is not optimal, we fall behind
<Johannes> I know that.
<Johannes> and we also say that. ...

Is this a typo and he meant "our forum"?

This is the first time I am accused of not being oppressive enough
Hey, not by me. The only time I saw you take moderator action here was to close an unofficial, harmless poll without any ISDG jurisdiction to do so based on a whim.

This is horrible news, and the fact that some-one cheats on us and on the MSDG as a whole is really sad.
There however, no reason to support public polls right now. Mods appear to have the ability to see, even with a non-public poll, who voted. They can't see who voted for what, but at least they can see who voted. That way the mods can carry the responsibility (like it happened this time, thanks to the very sharp eye of Rik) of securing the forums. We don't have to do that, and we shouldn't do that. That could cause an unnecessary suspicion against everyone who votes and doesn't post that often.

Besides, I also morally stand up against public voting, especially during elections. Everyone should have the right to privately vote. And if, and only if, you want to ventilate your opinion, you can do that by posting your opinion.

Look, I just feel that the differences between the internet and reality, as well as the size and structure of our team, there is nothing to be gained from secrecy. Real world government style control has no bearings here. The only way for any sort of oppression would be Thunderfall condoning unfair actions of a moderator, which not only wouldn't happen, but wouldn't even cause problems to you as a person living your life.

We have a unique oppertunity to be completely open here and still remain totally safe and unabused.

I suspect it would mean Joker says he has an inside connection (maybe he would claim the ambassador EMP for legitimacy) and then says whats up. Sort of like how EMP talked about the C3B election. Then they sort of assume we know they know, or something like that.

Maybe I told them, I don't remember everything :p But like I said before, I think this is a one or few person job. To get all 30 people to not say anything would be very very hard. I personally think it is joker. He rose from ambassidor to President by making a lot of good moves.

Hey I'm not blaming you at all. I'm saying he might have lied about saying you told him.

Good point on his rise to presidency.

A thing that just entered my mind: should we make getting in to the secret ISDG forum a harder process? I'm not sure how we could do it. Perhaps a post requirement (50?)? Probably not, but are there any other ideas?

naw, I like it easy :) just make voting public.

I wonder if this means that C3B hates my guts. :p

My thoughts: Joker is probably the person, and might be keeping the info to himself for advancement among the ranks of C3B. Also, he may be doing it to win easily (sounds obvious I know) and possibly some other members (of C3B) would not go along with it, so he would keep it secret. I would rather just have one person responsible and involved (so I pray it is only one person). Games shouldn't be ruined like this.

I have received 2 PM's from 40J.

#1: requesting access to our ISDG-forum. I've asked Thunderfall to grant it to him.

Please confirm this. The alleged spy shares the same IP address as JokerDF? Are you accusing JokerDF of creating a double logon and infiltrating your team as a spy for C3B?

I need you to be very specific here.

FortyJ
I replied that we are 95% sure there is a C3B spy and it is very likely Joker, but we aren't accusing him yet. We want to know if FortyJ can give us more information and if he has access to C3B forum.
I also said that we will certainly accuse C3B, but not yet.

Any comments; please respond.

The MSDG Admin has posted note to hold the game in the UN forum, so the game is on hold until there is a confirmation from the Admin allowing to continue.

I'm still wondering whether the mole had access to the save file. The mole knew the password after all.

I also got a reply from FortyJ (finally):
Do you still have the save? If so, hold it. If not, when you get it, hold it.

I also need you to compile all the evidence that you can (ie. make your case) against this individual. Try to include when he/she first appeared, what he/she has done, etc..

I'll also be online tomorrow (while I'm at work), so if you want to chat, let me know and we'll try to work out a time and place.

FortyJ
I'm not much of a detective. I noticed some of you were, like Rik. Can you be online tomorrow? I'll try to be so as well...
