I've actualy lived with this because it does not affect gameplay, but when I have a SOD trying to capture a city and one of thier deffenders kills my attacker, I get this animation of like a large wooden tower crashing . . .
It does not happen with individual units, only when I use a large stack. Anyone know what this is?

I saw that strange battle too but cannot understood exactly when it happens

What you are seeing there is a siege tower. These were sometimes used by ancient and medieval armies to scale city walls. I have seen them in the Total War series but I had no idea they were in Civ too (I don't use stack attack).

That's kind of what I thought, but it's not anything I have to build, they just show up. I guess I'll have to expirement a bit and see if it only shows up when the city has walls.

Siege towers were usually built on site from materials available near the city, rather than being constructed in a home city and moved all the way to the target. It wouldn't make sense to build them in the same way as you build other units.
