Strange behaviour from the English

I have noticed 2 things strange with them. 1, they AI doesnt expand with them. They are constantly wiped out or the weakest civ. When i playback the game, other civs have 10 or 12 cities and they still only have 4. Secondly, they exhibit traits of other civs. More then once i have poped a settler from a goody hut, and this is supposed to be only for expansionist civs (i am using CFC, and no, i am not a reloader looking for a good goody hut pop). Also, my anarchy times have been as low as 3 turns, also on a consistent basis. When i have played other civs i never get anything good from goddy huts and my anarchy turns are usually 6-8, and sometimes 9. Needless to say they are fun to play with, especially with the new Man O' War in CFC.

Anyone else noticed this with them?

For getting a settler from a goody hut, I'm pretty sure, it for everyone.

About them getting wiped out first and the other stuff. I think it pretty much the luck of the draw.

Yes from what you're saying they all sound like a coincidence, but what i can say is if you play pangea/continents with English they are less likely to do well because of the Seafaring trait's dependence on sea squares

It is completely luck of the draw. Obviously, the English have gotten a bad start location. If the AI gets a bad start, then they are pretty much screwed. Also, any civ can pop a settler from a goody hut. I have done it with Persia before.

I have noticed some strange stuff too. The Byzantines will always have one city, while everyone else is on their 4th or 5th.

I love having Theodora as my neighbor.

i think you notice certain runs in civs, but its just luck. Vikings always seem to be bottom or second bottom civ in my games. sometimes with only 1 city on large maps

I assume it must be luck because i've become most powerful with my England game and in others they've consistently been in the top 3 or 4 civs.

Yeah the English can be weird. The other day I invaded their country and they did nothing to stop me. They didn't send soldiers after me, attack my battleships, or anything.

I've noticed that the English do tend to be weak more often than not. In my current game, they started with London on Floodplains with hills within the city radius (and a cow too), which is just about as good a starting location as one can hope for. Also, they had cities on the coasts of two large oceans, so they should have been able to take advantage of their maritime superiority. But by the time the other AI had established themselves, the English still only had 4 cities!
