Strange CTD Error message:

"Using the MemorySaver option in your configuration does not allow device loss. Exiting program."

Anyone seen this puppy?

Nope ... but

The MemSaver Option is inside

C:\Documents and Settings\New User\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Civilization.ini

It was introduced with Patch V1.52. Open the ini file and try reversing the setting (if its 0, make it a 1 if its 1 make it a 0) thats a non-fatal change, if it makes things worse, go back to where you were

(0 is a number in the above not the letter O)

Be interested to hear the end result - not heard this issue before

Actually, that had occured to me from ruminating on the google responses I got on the MemorySaver.

I had turned the option on in the ini on the advice of a Take2 tech support guy in the hopes of getting the Bink movies to go correctly. They didn't.

I just forgot to flick it back. Makes a world of difference, really.

There are Bink options in the ini file at the bottom of it added in V1.52, worth a shot for Bink related issues if you not seen them

Yeah all the Bink options have already been futzed with. I think it's time I conceded defeat and admitted I needed an upgrade for Half-Life 2:Aftermath anyway.
