Has anyone yet figured out how to correctly code Strategic View flag icons? Currently, in order for my units to have appropriate 'normal view' flags, the strategic view flags all become messed up (Settlers have a warrior flag, barbarians a cruise missile flag, etc.). Any ideas?

I've found a file called unitflagatlas.dds in the resources folder, however it is encrypted– the only thing I do know is that it is a 16x16 grid of icons. Also, is there any connection between <portrait offset> command in the xml files and the strategic view icons?

Thanks
G

try that and if it isnt against the rules of this forum , post a pic so I can see where the icons are located in the dds file ... I think it might be against the rules of this forum though.

I am not sure how the rules work in this case and I dont want to get anyone in trouble. But I dont have that file for some reason after I unpacked my fpks.

Mantose,

I played with the unpacker, but it still didn't seem to bring about any answers. What I can't seem to figure out is why the strategic view icons are changing because of new units. The flags on my new units aren't working either...

One thing I noticed is that this problem only seems to affect civilian units (settlers, workers) and not military units. My worker strategic view flags disappear entirely.

Does anyone else have a solution for this? Is there a way to have custom strategic view flags without messing up other flags?

my workers dont have a flag ... my settler is warrior and both my units are not right ... my created one and my override one, in strategic view. There has to be a lua or xml somewhere or something that can fix this...

I find it very hard to believe that something as simple as unit flag can not be changed properly. So far this game which I thought was advertised as moddable has been very difficult to mod. Or at the least very mod unfriendly.

I did a bit of modding in sid mieirs railroad tycoon ... it was very similiar to this , but it was much easier and straight forward.
