Just thought that I would open this topic & let others comment. A couple of things from other games:

- Don't be first until the last
- Nearby are enemies, beyond are allies
- Small hurts, just piss people off, large
ones, kill them.

They are some very deep comments there dogberry. If i am in a strong enough postion i flatten every unit and city i see. If i am not a suck up and hope i will be forgotten until i am strong enough.

Mr. sparkle has the right approach. If you're #1, you've got to get on that horse and start kicking some butt. Otherwise, someone who is more aggressive will take your top spot. And then you'll be regretting it when they smoke you off your land. If you're weaker, slowly build your forces up so that you stay under the radar. And when the time is right, jump on an un-wary opponent. Surprise can be a great advantage.

Of course if you're dealing with the ai, it doesnt really matter. You can screw them over pretty good, but you can't "fool" them.

Or perhaps you think that when you're dead you just stay in your grave.

I don't usually lauch attacks even though I'm number one. When I do that, I stop building domestic things, and growth will halt. I launch the attack only when most of the required improvements at the time are built.

When warring i never commit all my cities. Only my outlying cities fight wars, while the heart of my Glorious empire continues to build the improvments.

When howies and tanks come into the picture the roles are reversed. The inner cities has the factories, manafacturing plants to build armies alot quicker. The outer cities, once properly defended, begin to build their improvments.

But becuase i have only play a few games against other humans i cant say if its any good other than against the AI

Well playing against other people will surely test that theory Mr. Sparkle. The AI will let you get away with such a plan, but I don't think that I would
