apparently the "southeast of Campeche" maps are common and hard to solve
my own such map does not show water on the East (only one geyser and three arches), so I do not know how far inland this may be
in such cases is the Lost City usually near the coast?
one poster said he had to go all the way down to Villa Hermosa (near the coast) to find such a "southeast of Campeche" Lost City
another poster had one East of Gran Bahama, a small island. in such cases how far away (on another island) can we expect to go to find the treasure? if it says "South of Gran Bahama" could the Lost City be as far away as Trinidad???

on Apprentice Level so far all Lost City maps have been in reference to coastlines, even if the coastlines are not shown. I walked my pirates south from Campeche to the Pacific Ocean and back and saw no map landmarks such as totem poles, arched rocks, or geysers. when I tried walking along the coastline east of Campeche I found the Lost City
similarly for a Lost City north of Vera Cruz without a coastline I first checked immediately inland north of Vera Cruz, but there were no map landmarks. I then had to walk north until just south of the Rio Grande to find the correct set of map landmarks. on the way north I encountered two other sets of coastal map landmarks, but not in the correct layout
for a map "SE of Guadeloupe" I just had to go to the nearest island to the SE
in no cases after several games has any map not been in reference to a coastline even if the coast is not shown
has anyone found a case where the location is truly inland with the map landmarks starting nowhere near the coast???
