The Stratos Group has posted a very positive Civ3 preview that gives new insights into the game's improved graphics, more streamlined interface, and the new concept of of culture. In fact, Strato Group staffer Asmodei was so impressed by Firaxis's effort he declared "calling it 'just another sequel' is most certainly an insult".

Interesting, although two comments make me wonder if the reviewer has played Civ II.

"Civ III will feature multiplayer for the first time", OK admittedly Civ II vanilla didn't feature multiplayer, but it's about the only version you can get now.

"Also, the city worker management has become much more easy to use, with each worker giving the benefits shown, without the complicated model of the last game to determine its effect." Am I missing something? What is complicated about the Civ II worker system?

You may be right about the first one. That sounded odd to me as well, but the last item, maybe the effects of improvements (market, library, factory, etc.) are shown on each worker instead of being added to the totals. Just guessing here.
