dont know how to do it but making workers easier to manage would improve gameplay.

a warning every time a rival researches a new technology will keep me from having to check every single rival every single turn to see what technology they have to trade. this will save me a ton of time.

That sounds like the kind of thing that would have to be done by a spy. There are many ways they could revamp the espionage system.

I agree, they should streamline it, but not too much. Too much streamlining leads to automation...

Also, anything that reduces the number of units to be moved in the game would speed up things enormously!

I very seldom finish a game, because I find the repetitiveness of moving hundreds of units in the modern age so boring...

Reduce a stack of 10 Infantries in a city by bombarding with 50 Artillery and then attacking with 12 Cavalry...rinse and repeat.. *yawn*
Turns taking an hour at a time to just move your units... I ask you! That's work, not fun!

One option would be to simply reduce the number of units available overall, for instance by making # of units dependent on population (saw that on the consolidation thread). Or dependable on available resources (saw that somewhere as well).

Another would be improved stack commands - e.g. tell your stack of Artillery to bombard till all defenders are redlined then stop - dto. all your Cavalry in the stack / only those with full hit points attack till city falls.
The stack command should resolve automatically with immediate results, no waiting for 50 individual artillery barrages.

Actually, I'd prefer a combination of both options: fewer units AND improved stack commands.

More armies! making the army- into a clever combination of troops and arms. To be able to stuck up archers along with Spearman and see the consequences. The end for one sided attacks of only archers. build up an army up to 5 units combining Archers for the long distences spearman for the close combat, swordman for the crushing attack and horseman.

I believe that the one unit attack( (let's say attacking a city with an archer at a time against a spearman at a time) is unreal and ruins big parts of the game. Also it can save you great mounts of time not needing to move all these units alone but as a brigade...

I've been hoping for stacked bombard for a while. This could work with artillary, bombers and ships alike. It seems silly to have to tell each of my 10 artillry pieces to bombard the same city square. It's obvious why I moved them there. I woudl certainly enjoy building bombers, ships and artillary more if this was the case.

@dh_epic: Worker movement as such doesn't bother me personally, I never automate - but this also would profit from better stack orders.

When I create a stack of workers to build RRs I don't want to spend the time giving each and every one individual orders - I just want them to build the RR where I tell them to and not bother me till they're finished!

Same for cleaning pollution: assemble a stack and tell that stack ONCE to clean it up - not 12 individual workers!

THe advisors need to actually tell you things that you would want or need to know. For example, the foreign advisor should tell you mood(does), what resources you can trade(does), what techs the computer wants and you want(doesn't). The military advsior should offer more practical synopsis then purely numbers. It should take into account where enemy units are.

It would be nice if you didn't have to click on each leader head to find out everyones tech situation.
