I've always had serious problems with stress. When I was very young, I would always get horrible headaches on Mondays. When I was in 6th grade, I had continual headaches for several months. I've had diarrhea or constant near diarrhea for several weeks from stress. I've been almost blinded during two major tests that I realized that I had no idea of what was going on. So, any advice on good ideas to reduce stress? And if you guys have have any stress-related comments, feel free to discuss.

BTW- Currently I'm home because I've got a horrible headache probably caused from stress. Fun...

Physical activity and proper stretching. Most stress head aches come from neck tightening. Losening it by stretching will help alot.

Whats the atmosphere like in your home? Is it stressful? How does the family get along?

Exercise always works for me. Not the petty 120-130 pulse kind, but really exhausting exercise.

Jesus! See a doctor!

I get stress from my job all the time but nothing like that.

Ahem, try to burp the worm if you know what I mean.

Now you see why drugs aren't so bad. Smoke some pot, drink some beer, and just chill out for a couple days. Just don't get addicted.

Okay. So I'll try to exercise more. Always does feel nice to get out and go running.

Also, since I have a day with nothing to do, I'm studying and re-doing my old homework with slow, precise work. It actually really is nice to go and listen to some peaceful iranian pop while i slowly and methodically do my math homework. Now I understand it perfectly.

BTW- I think a lot of stress may be the new school I'm going to. This year, I entered an exceptionally gifted school where I actually have to work. Since i've never studied in my life, it is hard to start the studying and so I didn't. Now that I'm taking the time to sit down and do it, i feel much better. Who knew? Doing homework is useful!

I also recommend exercise. Especially running. And I know I can run a lot faster, longer when I am stressed.

What Phlegmak said. A bit of stress is normal, but this sounds rather unhealthy. If it continues, behavioral therapy might be in order.

This is essentially what I do when I become stress. Calm my self down by going for a walk and then sit down and just work methodically through the stuff I need to do.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you go to an exceptionally gifted school, there is likely to be people that just get excellent marks without working. Don't worry about keeping up with them. Work out who is at the same level as you, then you can help each other and keep an realistic view on your abilities

when I get stressed, I just make a list and figure out what's not that important that I can safely not do or put off.

What if everything is important?

In reference to the need for me to realize that I may not be the best, I know. I've never really been competitive and I always made a point of doing the least necessary to stay in the top group ("advanced" classes, straight A's). I always would try to NOT be the best because I didn't like the infamy. Before this new school, that meant no studying and doing homework in class. Here, there are two groups. Those who don't care and do very badly and those who are way too into it and study way too much. I tried for too long to continue my old habits until I realized that to keep up, I'd have to actually do homework at HOME. And study more than the morning before the test. So it isn't really that I'm overworked. More like I underworked and now I see the results.

You know, that's never come up. Often times when think up a list you'll find that some stuff just takes too much work for too little reward.

It happens, this semester is similar for me, I just don't have the study habits for what I signed up for. I'll just muddle through make sure I don't fail anything and take a lighter courseload next semester.
