StrOMod - Preview Thread

Just started reading this thread. Good Stuff!!! My only question is about the ancient techs. Shouldn't direct democracy come before the republic? I'm guess your alluding to Greek democracy which did come before the Roman Republic. I'm my ancient mod I adding a tech called Bureaucracy to represent the administration needed to run expanded empires like that of Rome and Persia. As a matter of fact, it gave Persia a UU called Satrap.

I renamed the Persian leader unit, I think it was Xeres. I made to where they, the Persians, could build great leaders (very high cost) called Satraps that couldn't build armies but could finish improvements.

Now that I have Conquests, I'll try to convert my "Club Med" mod (which was really just a reworking of Thamis's Ancient Med Mod). I have the major Meditereanean civ's Rome, Greece, Persia, Eygpt, Carthage and Pheonica with a few minor civ's that can only build small wonders Gauls (Celts, Gauls, Iberians) Germanic Tribes (Goths, Vandals, Franks) Scythians (Scythians, Huns, Mongols). The mod starts at 4000 b.c. and goes to 1000 a.d. so the minor powers represent the various "barbaric" forces that plagued the civilized through out the ages. I will probably add a Thacian/Dacian civ due to the great units being posted.

Endless tinkering and a bit of self conscienceness have prevented my from posting it thus far.

IMHO you should put the 14-Bis as a wonder. Even though people may not know it, it was the first true airplane and therefore deserves representation.

Also, I don't think there's a need to have the Los Alamos Laboratories and the Manhattan Project, since the Laboratories were built for the Manhattan Project.

Yeah, maybe I'll add the 14-Bis. And on the wonders, Los Alamos is an "increases science" wonder, while the Manhattan Project is the one that allows for the nukes. :)

Ok, so it was about time I update you on the Stromod Project. My university classes are going to start this monday and I'm moving to another town (Bauru, in countryside São Paulo). I'm not sure on exactly when I'll have access to a computer there, so you won't see me for a while, and my mod will be on hold for a few more weeks.

The mod looks cool!

One question - what are using for the Clipper's death? Anything?

As far as I know. I'll double check.

Yep, no death. Which is a shame, since it's such an awesome unit.

Maybe you can try and talk aaglo into doing one...;)

looks cool:goodjob:

btw I love your tech tree:)

Hope I had the time to work that hard for civ3...

Some idea´s: Let Harbors, airports and such things that connect your city with the capital reduce corruption?

Make the Manhattan Project a small wonder, so that every civ has to research it on their own. Think that´s more realistic.

Ok, so long, keep 'em coming...

I've read the pages, and couldn't see - so I don't think this repeats ;) apart from my saying I am VERY interested in playing this :)

TECH
Trade leads to Law? or Law leads to trade
- I might have misread, but I think law should be independant of trade - though they ARE related - like trade legislation - that's not the only way it might develope - laws for murder, etc.

Magnetism, and Navigation
- It IS possible to navigate without a compass - stars, etc.

Not sure... There'll already be other corruption-reducing improvements (City Hall) and small wonders (Senate, Summer and Winter Palaces, Supreme Court...)

Sadly, if one builds the Manhattan Project, everyone gets the nukes, no matter if it's a great or a minor wonder. :(

Law leads to trade, not the opposite. :D

That's why there's the Ship Building tech. :)
