i was just playing civ3 on warlord archipelago barbs activity sedentary. i had 3 veteran wariors and i went killing barbs around and one barb warior conscript fortified in his hut killed all of my warriors

Yup, and be careful attacking with warriors. I generally only use them as a last choice/as martial law unhappiness defence.
