Has anyone evr played Stronghold by Firefly Studios. Its a very awesome game. It's partly a city building simulation, and part RTS. It's a great Castle Simulation

Never really played it, but I did hear good things about it.

And Dabomb, it's been out for a few years, so that would explain the price. ;)

O. :o I thought it was just a crappy game. It is cool to watch the awesome graphics, or just watching the trees move from side to side, but there's no Main game type. There's economy, offensive, defensive. I like AoE2 and those things cause it's all the same if you know what I mean.

I bought it when it first came out, never really got along with it though. A pretty average game IMHO.

I have a friend who likes it. But to me... meh. Good concept, but very poor execution if you ask me.

Dude, its very awesome. It's great. Sure it has some problems, but so do all games. I need to get the Expansion.

There is an expansion? Man, that game was way too bad to get an expansion. I'm not saying that it is necessarily bad (I think it is) but it needs to be at least somewhat good to have an expansion made.

Didn't they make a sequel?

Stronghold was superb! Moats, traps, tar pits and boiling oil baby! :)
Seeing a huge army charging towards your fortress was cool. Firstly the ladderman go down in droves as they run into your traps and your CB men pepper them. Then the knights and footmen come up channeled by moats into the area where you have tarpits and boiling oil waiting  Also the enemy CB men and archers come into range of the archer you have positioned beside a brazier :mischief: Good clean fun!

I thought it was great at first but after a month or so it seemed to get a bit repatative its all pretty much the same build and defend a castle or attack one. Which is ok to start of with but gets boring after a while.

i really enjoyed when i got a demo offi ;) but the enemys are just to hard (except form the rat guy!)

i have both stronghold and stronghold crusader and i like the game. crusader is not an expansion pack per se but it isnt called a sequal by the makers of the gamebut i think of it as a sequal.

crusader has more options. it has a skirmisk trail. 50 mission where you build a castle on different maps and play against 1 2 3 4 5 or 6 opponents. some are allies sometimes. other times they are your enemy. some maps are small (and make for a fast game) and others are large. the further you progress on this "trail" the harder it gets. this doesnt include all the other maps it comes with, you can pick as many opponents as you want, you can set uo alliances (teams). you can play agaisnt other human players online. crusader is more comprehensive than stronghold is but stronghold is still a good game. i like the grass and forests better htan the desert but thats jsut a personal thing. i belong to a stronghold board that is really in depth with these games. they have tutorials on how to do all kinds of tricks in the game. i'd give the URL but i dont want anyone to think i'm spamming.

it was a good game, but i felt it ended too soon, as well as that there wernt any skirmish modes as far as i can remember.

pointless smilie = :scan:
