Succesion LK8 - France - Space Challenge

Oi, I was ten turns turns into the game and it just took my system down. I'll try to play them again later tonight but if Ike is a war monger move, then he is welcomed to take his turns before me. We need to make a lot of alliances or it will become us and Persia versus the world, which we can win but I'd rather not have to fraze every city to the ground. I probably won't try to play for at least another 4 to 5 hours and if Ike or Carbon wants to play these crucial turns, then they are more than welcomed to. Sometimes, this game reminds me why I am a newbie.

I would move ahead and play now, but I have just downloaded the Chinese game and I am gonna play that one now. Also, I'm sort of afraid of what might happen.....

J/K:D I think my luck is changing, as soon as Thiazi is done I will download and kick a little @$$. I have been getting lucky in all of my CivIII games lately including the English game I am in that Thiazi and I really turned around. I just love these Succession Games. After I get back from my bowling league tomorrow, I will download and play if Thiazi is done. :D

Well, it looks like Gonzo didn't play last night and since, I am not as busy now as I was yesterday, I will try to get 10 turns in. If Gonzo has already played, then post his turns and ignore whatever I put it up. Sorry, if there was any confusiion.

(Now Playing)

1890: Greece allies with us against the Chinese for the cost of 40 gold and coal. Renew RoP with Greece.

1892: Load 4 carriers full of tanks, 3 of infantry and 2 of Calvary. They are escorted by 12 battle ships, 6 destroyers and 2 ironclads. They will land in 2 or 3 turns, so Gonzo will have some fun with them. Hurry airport in Cambridge for 580 gold. Sell coal plants in Kendertwon, Paris, Orleans and Lyons. Create a blockade around our southern shores. Mobilize our economy for war.

1894: 5 tanks and 4 infantry sent to Cambridge. Greece brings the Aztecs into the war (on our side). The Iroquois have allied with China and declare war on us. India declares war on China. Zulus declare war on China. Iroquois capture Lagash for a turn. Iroquois have now declared war on China but they will not talk to us. Renew RoP with India. Babylonians declare war on us.

1896: Lagash reclaimed. Kahnawake and its wines our now ours. Centralia, Oil Springs, Cattaraugus razed. I decided that we it was not worth it to keep cities in the northeastern part of our continent but if you want to, you can send a wave of settlers up there and claim their land as a side project. The Babylonian city of Akkad is captured.

1898: Babylon city of Nippur is captured. Grand River and St. Regis are razed. The Chinese city of New Shantung, which is next to Cambridge, is captured.

1900: The Baby city of Kish is captured. They must have a settlement or settler somewhere but regardless, they are alive and still not talking to us. Niagara Falls is razed. Science lowered to 30% for 1 turn and luxury is raised to 10%. We net 503 gold for this turn. Space flight is researched and we now start research on satellites.

1902: Mauch Chunk and Akwesasne are razed. Trade wines to Zulu for 51 gold per turn. Trade wines to Aztecs for 29 gold per turn. Trade saltpeter to Aztecs for 25 gold per turn. Science raised back to 60% but at a minor loss. Trade iron to Greece for ivory.

We have a massive attack force that will be ready to land in China in 2 to 3 turns, this should be sufficient enough to destroy them if not, keep one of the cities and rush an airport there and we can start flying in troops. Also, expect to see the entire Chinese army attack the landing party but with 24 infantry in there, expect to see a lot of losses on their side. We may want to look into a few more trades or operating at a greater loss, so that we can start building spaceship parts in the near future. Also, the Iroquois have about three turns of life left, I personally chose to raise most of their cities but if they have any wonders or anything of value, then we should obviously keep those cites. Good luck to the next player, and you should have fun slaughtering China.

Thanks for playing:) I was gonna play last night but I figured I'd just play my other SG and let you have a chance to play if you wanted to. I will play it about 5-10 hours and then post. Looks like you did good Thiazi:D

End this frelling war NOW! War time economy is hurting us BIG time. War time footing does NOT let us build space parts.

This is to be a Space Race game - I don't want NUKES in this game.

China WILL talk peace. Best bet Kill the Iroqouis, in 1 or 2 turns, and make peace.

Damn, I wish I never started Mahattan and the palace.

Ok LK. I have read your post so I will end the wars during my turn. I will probably land the invasion force into China and beat them up bad enough that they will talk peace and be badly inhibited from trying to compete with us. The Iroquois aren't going to be a problem. Hopefully, in 5 or 6 turns, the wars will be over and we can go for our spaceship. :D

I can't explain it. Someone doesn't want me to play LK8. Nothing awful happened this time, I just got an out of RAM error. I think that when I lost 128 MB RAM during an electrical surge like 1 month ago leaving me with 96 MB RAM it also fried my 64MB chip in there but it still hung in there. It's gone now, my computer only recognizes 32 MB RAM and keeps giving me this stupid error. I can't even find words to explain these events. Something, or somebody doesn't want me to play. I am now resigning from LK8 as it just isn't worth trying to fix anymore. I just seem to have the worst of luck in this game. My CivIII has never given me a single error except for this out of RAM error. Needless to say, I am not happy. I think it's just amazing that I was finally getting a chance to play, I was even 7 turns into it when my comp gave me the out of RAM error, no autosaves:(

This is just strange. Maybe some day we can recruit someone to write a story about this. Oh well, I'll be sure to check in on this game frequently and leave my advice. You guys don't have to take it, but I'll leave it anyways. Note to whoevers next: JUST END THESE WARS AND STOP THE CITIES FROM PRODUCING TANKS!!!! I did that when I was playing and a few had to be switched to wealth because of the war economy, I was making a few hundred per turn and kicking @$$. Anyways, have fun:) Even though I never got to play, I hope to contribute be adding my advice to this thread. Have fun and I'll keep in touch:)

Well that puts us a 3 players.
However, this is so close to ending - doesn't make sense to add anyone. I am playing right now.

Pre-turn
Lee the rocket man takes over. That answer to all of the wars - Leave this planet.
Wake up the tank stack, and send them to clean up stray enemy units, and speed up killing the Iroqoius.

1904 AD - A coal source it exhausted. First time I have ever played with mobilization - it is frustating to not be able to improve cities at all :( I start pulling the workers away from the Iroquois. Since the Indians already are rushing it to fill in the land, why help them?
Salamanca is razed.
I cancel all the ship go to orders, but it may be to late. The transports are naked, and several Chinese ships near by.
Switch some cities to wealth to give us a positive cash flow.

1906 AD - I have to cut science by 10% to up luxuries by 10%. The war is really hurting us. I give Zulu 1500 for 20 turns of furs. I can't risk a goverment collapse. I hate giving away tech, but give Aztecs steel for 20 turns of silks. This should hold use for awhile.
I am very grateful that China was a coward, and did not attack our transports. Our battleship stack solves the problem permantly.
We stake our own claim in ex-Iroqoius territory. Of course, we are next to Aluminum with Rheims. Chartes is formed next - A hugh overlap, but it claims an oil source.
Tonawanda is capture - GACK I thought I hit raze - You know the city is in trouble, when the last defender is a spearman.
The war with Babylon is over :) I gain a few bucks out of it. We are back to normalcy I am free to wipe the other losers out. Hammerville switchs to Appollo program. We are back on track!
Well I trade to give our calvary a last change for honor, but they can't even kill a spearman! Second one does better. Allegheny is toasted.
Persia and India sign an alliance against China.

1908 AD - The apollo program is built. [dance] [dance] [dance]
I begin to blow the crap out of Tienstin.
To be continued ... I am heading to bed

1908 AD - (Continued)
New Paris is formed - to take control of a rubber tile. Positioning for the kill of the Iroqoius. Our stack of transports lands by China - This should be interesting.
Babylon and the Iroqouis sign a trade embargo - WHO CARES!
Rome and Indian sign a MPP.

1910 AD - Cockpit completed.
Docking bay completed.
Persia is also scrambing to get a piece of the dying Iroqoius territory.
 The Chinesse ignore our landing
Tientsin is quickly becoming a pile of rubble. Many buildings and citizens are dead already :flamedevi :flamedevi

Of course - The really good news below. :ar15: :ar15: :ar15:

To be continued ...

:)

1912 AD - I am happy to report that the Aztecs would LIKE to import Oil. The people are very happy to hear of the death of the Iroqoius, we love the Saint Day breaks out all over the place.
Tientsin continues to get blow up - down to size 11 - still to large as for an air base. Carriers are still to far away.

1914 AD - How did Tientsin drop to size 8 - I didn't see any battles
We catch India trying to plant a spy.

1916 AD - We have a foothold in China. Tientsin falls - one lousy elite Calvary kills the 1 hp rifleman. Of course, no Great Leader :(

1918 AD - A large stack of out of date Chinnesse units land my New Paris. I don't even get to figth them as Persia kills the stack.
The next BIGGIE. Satellite researchs is completed.
Start research on Superconducter. The next item needed for the space race.
The vultures appears - Rome declares war on China.

1920 AD - Believe it or not, boring turn.

Summary -
Carbon_Copy - Your choice - continue the war, or peace.

Even though we now have just 3 players, I don't plan to recruit any more unless you 2 want another player. We are close to ending it.

edit - Old attachment deleted to conserve space

It would be too confusing to have another player jump back into this game. The only way I could see adding another player is if Ohwell or Gonzo decide they want back in. Other than that it looks like we are going fine and sorry for mobliizing the economy, I didn't know it would hinder our abillity to build spaceship parts. Also, nice progress on the sapceship and with the war on China. The only reason I would keep fighting it, aside from if they are still refusing to talk to us, is so that we can practive millitary tactics.

About the economy mobilizing - This is what succession games are about. Learning new things about the game.

Of course, I wish I could gotten your turn versus the world.
Would have been a 3 hour turn, but I think I could have taken over a big chunk of the world in one turn ...

The AI has a good rail net. Many cities within 2 spaces of our border. Many of the cities were TO close. I take one, the border change, another in range. With the # of tanks we had the cascade effect would have been very powerful. We had PLENTY of artillery to weaken key cities.

For example:
If fighting Perisa -
I take Borazjan. I now am one square away from Jinjan by rail.
I take Jinjan and I am one from Sippar.
Izibia is already in range.
Herat only has musketman, so I use calvary (3 move) and take Herat.
With the forces of France, I could easily pull this off.
From there I can get Istakhr, Zariqum, Lagash, etc.

Tightly packed cities and a railnet can be a very dangerous scenario for a weak defender. ;)

Waiting - Carbon_Copy over 24 hours.

If I caught another one of his posts correctly, we should hopefully hear something soon.
