succession game again?

A while back there was a succession game with those playing being the Spartans. My PC was down and I did not get to join, but would love to play in one. Anyone up for a new SMAC succession game? Faction, world and difficulty would be what those playing wanted.
 
I was thinking of setting up one...but didn't!


I am definitely interested in doing so...I was involved in the last one: "Chaos Kittens" were my unit of Choice :)


I'll see if I can contact Dreadhead and see if she is interested in playing.


The main problem is the map...the map generated makes the game.
 
She went to some big conference in California, came back briefly, and hasn't been heard from since I believe. Anyways, now that I'm on summer break I'll put my newfound free time to good use and join you :goodjob:

Any faction suits me :)
 
Well, my home PC is still !@#$ed up a bit and thus I have no internet access at home. As soon as I get a friend to burn me a copy of hte patch Iw ill install the game. I also think I can recieve and send the files from work. In short, I am wanting to play, but if I start the game then it might be a week or so before I can think about starting it. Also it would need to not be the expansion for me to play.

ANyways..

What faction, map, difficulty and such we gonna use?

I prefer transend difficulty setting but will play lower. Also any faction or map will work for me.
 
SMAC-X factions blew goats so it is no bad thing you haven't got it.


I like big maps...hilly (weak erosion) and continents not little islands or skinny penisulars!


For factions...we could try and properly role-play the Gaians?

E.G no destruction of fungus etc...

P.S I think we need to set rules to stop us winning easily. Indeed I remember reading at Apolyton ways to make the game much more difficult without ruining gameplay.
 
The properly RP Gians could be difficult for me. I use nothing but forrest when I play and it spreads on its own.

Also I find the Gians to be VERY easy on big maps. Send out a few scouts to capture some mind worms, use those worms to catch more worms (and get energy credits) and you are rich with a huge army (free even) that can march to most any enemy and kill them. When I play Gians I go mainly ocean with little fungus coverage ro make it more difficult.

To make the game more difficult, just randomize the faction leaders personalites and social agendas. That makes for a REAL screwy game. I once had the University killing all who were not using fundi!
 
Spycatcher...with civ2 succession I've played in games where there was a wide range of abilities.

The job of the "better" players is to help the weaker players by giving them a stronger base to work from or improving on the weak foundation they leave. Not every player is the same and that makes succession games more interesting than just single player games.



I only suggested we play the Gaians and role-play as the Gaians are an extremely interesting faction.

One of my dreams is to: be Gaia...the territory of mine is completely covered in fungus. I have the Xenoempathy Dome (1/3 movement across fungus)...what a challenge for any invader trying to wade through my fungus! Vietnamesque!


I am equally happy with playing any of the factions...I just think we should bear in mind that as the Spartans in the last succession game it was over very quickly!

I have SMAC, but unfortunatly I suck at it, so sorry, I cannot take part of the SG.
 
We need someone to be boss-person to keep things rolling...I will be away from the 7th July - 22nd July so it is probably best that it is not me.
 
I'll play. But not garauntees my playing will be any good. :p
 
Ya, I'm in too, but again, no garantees.
 
I will be gone (out of twon) from July 3rd to July 11. I can not play then but can play any other time.
