He he I've been a studious padawan and have read all the tutorials of the Jedi Master in unit editing, Rabbit White. Now time has come for me to post my first creation. Lady and gents ... (drum rolls) ... let me show you my succubus :

Wings are Rabbit's ones, and the katana has been taken in seZereth's cultist. And those of you who know the french heroic fantasy strip named "Les Chroniques de la Lune Noire" will easily recognize where the succubus model comes from ;)
Anyway I have to admit I'm not satisfied with this unit, but as I spent quite a time on it (the "learning curve" ...), I wanted to give a preview.
First of all, I'd like to get her a dress instead of trousers, longer hair, and remove these useless bagback and glasses.
Then I have a problem with animation, as "military unit" animations don't work with spies models ... too bad 'cause I'd really like to see my succubus in the middle of battles ;)

Anyway if you're interested in having a look at the files, here they are :

Any comments welcome :goodjob: (but don't forget it's my first unit :D)

EDIT :

Also available another version, based on female settler, that's working fine (see post #16)

Hey I wanted to do that first, haha! Unfortunately you won't be able to remove her glasses and backpack unless you have something like 3DMax or blender that means and know how to use that. But the backpack is maybe not so big a problem to skin like a part of her wings.
Another idea is try to build up a succubus from the female settler model. She will be less sexy probably but can use combatanimations, and who would dare then to notice?;)

Great start Azatoth :goodjob: you certainly put a lot of work into the front part of the texture ;)

Thanks for encouragements guys

I've downloaded the 30-day demo whose link is given in many threads in this forum, and I'm ... well let's say ... trying to understand how it works :)
There's one thing I miss with this 3DS ... is there a way to "import" a Civ unit in it and then modify it ? Didn't find out how for now ... 'cause if I have to start from scratch as stated in the docs, I'd better forget about it and focus on the NIF Viewer.

Currently, there's no way to import civ units into max. I think there is an importer for Blender, which then might export the file into some format that max can import, but the whole process is unreliable and you loose tons of information on the way (unless I'm totally off the mark you can forget about bones and the animations for sure, and probably texture mapping too).

Oh for sure there is an importer for blender and you can import export a model with texture by converting them dds to tga I think, but I forgot about the animationproblem, don't know if there's gonna be a fix for that soon.:(

Her glasses don't bother me...who's looking there? :p

Always look your "interest" in the eyes, Woodelf. What hick do you come from you don't know that? :old:

If you're willing to give up team color you could remove the glasses by simply making them invisible. And if later you add various succubus-themed items (just off the top of my head - semi-transparent or ripped skirt/dress, a whip, some handcu... um, nevermind  :D ... anyway, you could have them carry the team color.

A quick scan reveals glasses so eye contact is out. The next glance is pure instinct. :D

OK, time for an update on the succubus !

After several attemps to have my spy-based succubus animated with "military unit" animation, which all happened to fail, I've made another version of the succubus from the female settler.

First thing to say : damn, she's not as sexy  ... too bad for a succubus. Anyway this time it's working pretty fine with warrior animation. Anyway, even if I prefer the appearance of the first version, I can have with this one in the game ...

And here's the file :

There's a last bug, but I don't understand where it comes from : the Civilopedia page for the unit is blank, and it doesn't appear in the bottom left corner when you select it  But everything else is working fine !

I hope that one day I'll be able to come back on the first version and have it worked. Who knows ? ;)

Sorry it took me so long to see this. Great work, Im adding it to FfH2 (as long as thats okay with you).

The reason it doesn't appear correctly in the pedia is that if you reference a kfm file, there MUST be a nif file in the directory with the same name. Since you were using warrior.kfm file you need a warrior.nif file. You could just drop a default warrior.nif in there (the file isn't used for anything) but I got around it by just renaming female_settler.nif to warrior.nif and referencing it by that name.
