Suggestion for Civ 4: Permanent Citizen Assignments

I think an awesome suggestion for Civ 4 would be the ability to assign citizens permanent assignments.

Primarily, to unfortify themselves when 'pollution' is produced , clean it , then go back to their originating city and then refortify .

I usually have a ton of citizens just fortified after totally terraforming my continent . It would be awesome if pollution triggered them from their slumber.

Also, I read the IGN article about some of the new features in Civ 4 and their already addressing one of my biggest gripes. Other Civs not respecting your borders .

I thought some kind of signal or a bell or something would be cool to alert you that a civ is in your territory...but they said that another civ wont be able to enter your territory without declaring war or establishing a a 'right of passage' deal.

Finally , my last BIGGEST gripe , and a good idea would be for smarter workers . I dont know about anyone else , but when I 'automatic' some workers they often enter other civilizations territory to try and get to other cities I have on the other side of their territory . They just go through !

Sometimes I've decided to just conquer my neighbours so I wont have to deal with the ' Remove your 'troops' or blah blah blah.... ' pop ups .

So a 'automatic-but stay in owned territory' button would be cool for workers .

Those are my suggestions .

* Foreign civilizations respecting borders ( already being addressed ! woo hoo! )

*Workers being able to 'unfortify' themselves and clean pollution automatically.

*Workers not crossing into enemy territory for ANY reason . ( I guess those shovels are 'threatening'....sigh... )

I hope they find there way into Civ 4.

On a side note , I also hope they find a cure for eye strain . LOL !

Ahem, no pollution to clean up in this version of Civ Johnnny-'pollution' from the buildings you construct now directly reduce the health of your cities-though I hope that extreme pollution can lead to changes in climate and terrain output.
Just FYI ;)!

No pollution ?!?!??!

YES !!!

I hadnt read that !

Kaloo Kalaay !!!

Now I want this game to come out yesterday !

Civ 4 and Spore .

No more pollution......

AWESOME !!

Thanks !

BTW, if you put your workers on auto with no redo (shift-A), as long as there is nothing to do, they sit in a city twiddling their thumbs, but if pollution crops up, they fly out and handle it. Once it's gone, they go back to the cities to twiddle their thumbs. This is one of the reasons why I don't get the reason people complained about pollution so much - auto-workers take care of it without any fuss. With that said, I think the health system in civ4 is going to be better anyway, so I'm glad they've changed it.

if there is going to be no more pollution,, whats gonna happen when i nuke the crap out of korea or china???? Is it going to turn into some kind of exotic jungle?

I would assume that health drops to minute levels, though what exact effect that will have, we don't know. Hopefully, nukes have their own special rules though.

Except when workers rush into newly captured territory while at war to facilitate improvements, only to be captured the next turn.

Do you think it is more realistic now? Beijing just got nuke? Oh, no, I'll have to send my worker force to clean it for next year!

Then they spend their time improving tiles that aren't in any citys radius instead. Or otherwise enjoy life by strolling too near the war front.

Or let your core cities fully polltued but clean up all of your small conquests pollution. WOW! How useful!
