Hey there jdog, I really love the Revolution mod. It's really the only way I play Civ anymore.

I do have a suggestion for a possible new feature to add to it that came to me as I was reading. It involves the addition of marriages of royal families between two nations to strengthen relations or perhaps not. It's sort of similar to the random event, but a little more in depth. It could be similar to an ancient defensive pact, but instead of automatically declaring war, there could be a pop-up that lets you know that the other nation is at war and asks whether or not you will declare war. Of course, saying no would seriously damage relations.

There could be an event similar to the current one where you give up power to a successor for a number of turns, but instead of a successor, if the relationship is strong enough, power could be given to the other nation for a number of turns. That would be kind of a mix between a succession and a vassal state, in that power would be lost for a number of turns for one nation, and the revolution status for the cities changing sides would become worse, while the original cities would become better as a result of an expanding power.

This is just what i was thinking.

Thanks again for the mod! Great job! :goodjob:

I like the idea of tying monarchies together by marriage- this could well simulate how Scotland and England were eventually tied together or how Spain and Portugal were tied together (temporarily). The question is how to implement this though (i.e. finding a way of doing this by force without killing player freedom would be great).

To add on to the above idea, I think an event should added (or enhanced) in which you are given the opportunity to have your royal family and another intermarry. This would improve relations ard create opportunity for other deals. Later on, if the event is accepted, an event pops up saying u are a potential heir to the other civ. If you accept, than u take control of that civ in the same manner as a permanent alliance (both civs sepreate with u controling both). The down side is you have to fight rebellions led by opposing claims to the throne. This event could be reversed as well, in which case you would be the rival claim to the throne.

It would be better if that nation will just be assimilated to yours instead of managing two nations.

Then perhaps a random event could possibly take away your claim to the throne, separating the two countries again?

Hmm...to be honest, combining two countries sounds extremely overpowered IMO (unless they're very small).

That's a cool idea ... something to make Hereditary Rule feel more like a monarchy! Simply combining full sized civs would obviously be unbalancing, but combining them and having a rival heir launch an uprising ... plus having to deal with a potentially hostile populace in the acquired territory should make it very challenging to really get a big boost out of it.

It also provides a logical and meaningful way to combine smaller neighboring civs or civs which might have split in two earlier, at least in the middle chunk of the game.
